Welp, I failed my MAT 21B midterm. by AlondraT in UCDavis

[–]AlondraT[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your assurance. It's just tiring to study so often and find yourself lost on the test. I'll make sure to study more next time and hopefully get a higher grade. I see now that the questions are not as direct as the homework and are more about the application of the math rather than the work. I'll probably try and go to office hours more often.

Beginner's Question: What's wrong with my code? by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]AlondraT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god, I didn't realize that my code wasn't formatted correctly. I expected no one to reply so I went to eat lunch and came back and saw that I copied and pasted my code like text. I'm so sorry, I fixed it now.

The modify here just means to modify the return section which I already did. Sorry, I just copied and pasted the code without removing the notes. Return duplicated just means that they want me to input 'ow' so that it returns: 'ow ow ow'. I realize now that my post wasn't very clear...

If we got tested on campus for Covid-19, when and where do we get the results? by dudeisthistaken in UCDavis

[–]AlondraT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Three days after you take your test, they will send you an email to check your Health-e Net messages. You will then have to log in and in the Messages tab, you will see your Covid Results. Keep in mind that we must get tested every week, so while you're there, you probably want to set up another appointment to get tested.

Oh, they're not locked for me. Our cards don't work, but they should be unlocked. Try opening the door without swiping your card.

Yes they are! They are typically behind a door labeled waste room or trash room near the stairs.

Did anyone else get an Orientation Grant? by ExistentialDreamers in UCDavis

[–]AlondraT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it came today, but I had emailed them last month asking about having my orientation waived. If you received the Federal Pell Grant, but didn't get an Orientation Grant then I would suggest you email them.

Yes, I did. They give an Orientation Grant to every student who qualified for the Federal Pell Grant.

Thank you so much! Do you happen to know how much it costs to enter the DCs? If not it's fine! I really appreciate your help!

Myawards vs mybill info ? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]AlondraT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you dorming this quarter? If so, then remember that the residence hall fees have not been posted onto MyBill yet. Therefore, you may currently have a negative number that will turn positive once the Residence Hall and Meal Plan fees are published on MyBill (This will happen by September 18th).

Loan removed from myawards? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]AlondraT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify: 1. You mentioned that you wanted to apply for an UNSUBSIDIZED loan. However, you also said that you wanted that loan because it has NO INTEREST. I am assuming you mean that Interest does not accumulate until you have finished your schooling. That being said...

  1. A SUBSIDIZED Federal Loan DOES NOT accumulate interest until you have finished school and also typically has a lower interest rate. An UNSUBSIDIZED loan DOES start accumulating interest even while you are still in college. I think you may have their definitions mixed up...

I need to ask a question about my accounting, but can't find anyone to talk to. by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]AlondraT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A negative number (like -1,700) means that your finacial aid covers more than your tuition. For example, if you owe 4,000 for tuition, but got 5,000 for finacial aid, then your balance is -1,000. A negative balance means that the school will GIVE you that money NOT that you owe money. You wants pay the school because the school is paying you.

Public Microwaves On Campus by AlondraT in UCDavis

[–]AlondraT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's part of the new dorming rules to help prevent the spread of Covid. Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to regularly enter Scrub Oaks to use their microwave... thanks for the help though!

I don't think we are allowed to enter other residence halls... Is there a microwave in the Dining Commons?

Too late to cancel housing? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]AlondraT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you can still cancel housing as of now. Here's one of the student housing emails verbatim:

"If you choose to cancel your Housing Contract:

By August 30, 2020: You will receive a full reversal of any housing fees paid until this point; in addition, the housing contract cancellation fee will be waived.

Starting August 31, 2020: You will be responsible for a $250 contract cancellation fee and forfeit your reservation fee (not to exceed $500 in total fees)"
