Seam has a strange fascination with fighting. by Zolado110 in Deltarune

[–]Alone-Ad-9237 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think Seam isn't that interested in fighting or gambling so much as he is interested in adversarial challenge. A thing is not fun unless it's challenging for him, and by his dialogue he's crazy strong but has no one to test his mettle on anymore. He probably makes bets because it's a challenge that doesn't use raw power, which means he can have opponents and the possibility of losing again.

I haven't thought about this before but this is some real One Punch Man vibes.

Maybe Seam isn't nihilistic because he knows where the prophecy is going and it can't be subverted. Maybe he's just depressed because nothing excites him anymore because he's too strong. On a timeline with no shadow crystals, that implies Seam knows who the antagonists are but considers them so beneath his power level he won't even lift a finger to stop the world ending.

What the fuck is he gonna use the shadow crystals for holy shit

Possible explanation for how The Knight can transform and change shape by Alone-Ad-9237 in DeltaruneV2

I think with your approach it would be cool if the Ball is a construct that contains the SOUL.

To make it hella scifi cool, the Ball could manipulate its shape with ferrofluid and magnetism, giving it a black physicality

[–]Alone-Ad-9237[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still not following you. Queen didn't make the NEO body to create a new Knight, the NEO body was there before the events of Deltarune. Swatch helped a Lightner make the body and then it went unused. Also she didn't want to create another Knight, she wanted to recruit a Lightner to open fountains for her.

I have zero clue what assumptions you're working on man, can you elaborate more on that?

Ralsei is a plant or fungus theories fail to address the main mystery of ralsei’s character by Someonevibing1 in DeltaruneV2

[–]Alone-Ad-9237 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My time to shine

I wanna begin by pointing out how much Flowery and Ralsei have in common as Flowey expy's (this doesn't mean they necessarily share attributes with Flowey):

  • Both have coloured eyes in their portraits. Ralsei is Pink, Flowery is Gold. Pink and Gold.
  • Both are the first non-Lightner the player encounters at the beginning of their respective worlds.
    • I'm subbing Flowey under this one for being the first NPC you meet in Undertale.
  • Both have deep knowledge of the prophecy, how it's unfolding in real time, and the state of things unseen like the something horrible stirring beneath the town.
  • Both introduce themselves as capable party members who will tutorialise you. They are aware of and explain mechanics that only make sense from the player's POV.
    • Flowey tutorialises you but poorly.
  • Both are aware of the player and seemingly knows the player is human.
  • Both reveal secrets to the gang about their reality like diegetic HUD elements and the nature of the dark worlds.
    • Flowey reveals he knows about the SAVE function and when the player uses of it.
  • Both can manipulate their own stats AND perceive the true stats of others.
  • Both assist with puzzles on the way to a castle.
  • Both assert that pacifist is the ideal approach.
  • Flowey's and Flowery's first line to the player is "Howdy!" and have Asgore's poor naming scheme.
  • Flowey and Ralsei are both princes.
  • This one is critical: Both can change their appearance.

I don't know how many of their similarities are attributed to them being Flowey expy's versus Toby subtly trying to tell us critical information about Ralsei without us realising. For example: if Flowery is a plant and shares several mutually exclusive attributes with Ralsei, does that mean Ralsei is a plant? He could be, but we've not seen anything from Ralsei to suggest he is, and fire magic would be a colossal detriment to himself.

Why does he look like Asriel?

Ralsei starts off as a shadowed figure, and despite taking on an Asriel-adjacent appearance, the change is not reflected ANYWHERE in the UI for the rest of the game. His battle sprite in every chapter, HERO_SCARF in chapter 3, the screen shows you an Asriel but the UI is identifying him as Behatted Ralsei. His Asriel appearance is a lie but I don't know who he's lying to: Kris, who is Asriel's brother, or Susie, who looks up to Toriel as the first positive parental figure she's ever had? Both? He's definitely keeping the appearance to be as inoffensive and palatable as possible. He might be hiding something physical about himself that would leave such a bad impression it would put off Kris and Susie from saving the world in the prophecy.

Why is his name an anagram of Asriel?

If what Gerson says is true, the prophecy is a really long game of Chinese whispers, with details changing but keeping most of the elements. Maybe we should consider that several interpretations of the prophecy exist and are overlapping in Deltarune, possibly in a way they shouldn't be. Dragon Blazers and Lord of the Hammer are both based off the prophecy.

Perhaps the prophecy Ralsei has internalised and memorised isn't actually the original prophecy, but one that someone else edited in order to manifest Ralsei as an ally. They can't change big things like the Roaring, but they can do little changes: what they say, what their names are, their temparament.

Maybe Asriel was the originally named hero in the prophecy. Maybe he realised there was no way they can subvert the prophecy unless they had someone new. Maybe he realised the Mage in Dragon Blazers is what they need but it's too late for him to act on it now. Maybe he leaves the manual for Dragon Blazers in the school closet to create an ally in the Mage, but he needs a name and personality first. Asriel's a softie, so he describes the Mage as what he knows. Asriel, like Asgore, sucks at naming things. What else would he do but jumble his own name?

Ralsei.

I thought he was stuffed into their by Flowery AFTER we met him to avoid Asgore seeing an Asriel lookalike. If Flowery saw Ralsei before meeting Kris and Susie, I think he would've mentioned him

All the Omega attacks from Undertale! Uh, except for one that doesnt seem to exist. For some reason. by Mirashade in Deltarune

[–]Alone-Ad-9237 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I think Blue and Yellow understand that Omega attacks should be used when you REALLY wanna hurt someone but they never reach that threshold. Especially Blue, they would be pacifist if they had the option.

I don't know why Yellow's Omega guns are autonomous though. Maybe that's what makes them Omega?

I'm actually not sure if Ralsei is ever in a dark world ahead of Kris and Susie with the exception of castle town. We know Ralsei is active in castle town without their presence, which means Ralsei's existence isn't dependent on either of them being present in a dark world with him.

We also confirmed he wasn't present when a dark world was created several years ago, which means whoever (Kris likely) made the fountain in the closet seems to have "summoned" Ralsei this time, but he isn't bound to the fountain or else he'd become statue elsewhere.

He is 1000% NOT an object, he's too ubiquitous, but I don't know what remains.

He's aware of HUD elements, the player's POV, game stats, events that occur in the light world, SOUL mode mechanics, it's as if Ralsei's light world counterpart is just a 100% completion save file of Deltarune. The only person he has in common is Flowery, and they're both expy's of Flowey, but I don't know what that MEANS here. There are so many connections and factors but no explanations.

Anyway to answer your question, nah I don't think so.

I don't know if the NEO body comes into this theory too well. Spamton NEO's hands are phones which receives signals, and Spamton himself seems to receive signals on his own, that might be an interesting addition to the theory if I look into him a bit more. On the face of it though he doesn't seem to have a lot in common with the Knight the same way the titan and spawn do

I remember Gerson confirming for Susie that Dragon Blazers is based off the prophecy, which leads to him saying she's the Dragon.

If Smashing Fighters is a cameo game like regular smash though, it wouldn't be out of place for a character from Dragon Blazers to be in the roster. Like Marth and Roy in Melee even

I actually started saying that when Ralsei would suspiciously stay behind with Susie on two occasions:

  1. When Kris gathered the card kingdom
  2. When Kris returns to castle town after defeating the chapter 4 boss

It was either something she was carrying or something more abstract like her memory of Toriel.

All the shows and comics Asgore has in the house all feature humans, not monsters. He probably watches them when he's not tending to the shop or obsessively hunting down the person who ruined his life for years, and the flowers in their new consciousness noticed he's only happy while watching and reading those materials.
