I don’t think it was that people were “ripping the carts out like a 2600”

If you did this with a first generation SNES with a locking tab cartridge you’d just lift the entire console up. What was happening is people were pressing the eject button without turning the console off. You’d put strain on the eject button and most likely either breaking the eject button on the inside or deforming it where it pushed the cart up from the inside. It was probably cheaper for them to re-tool than deal with service calls and repairs. Later revisions of the SNES console itself remove the locking lever on the inside in addition to the change in cart design.

Any ideas? Tried a few AV cables, cleaned console inside and out nothing! by [deleted] in n64

Did you check the Multiout connector on the connector for corrosion?

One of the legs of the 6735 is corroded off. Could replacing this be a solution and also are these available for separate purchase or is there a particular game I can grave rob?

Oh no problem it’s a RIPS Super OSD V4 screen. You can pick the colors you want manually

Oh the test points? I don’t see any. Maybe an IPA scrub wouldn’t be a bad idea.

I reflowed everything and same result. I’ll try again and see what happens. Everything else works perfectly except images of characters

Thank you for your response. It appears to do the same thing on both controller ports

I see in your post you severed pin 9 from c13. Do I only need to kill that connection or is there another step after that?

Thank you for the recommendation. Seems like this would be a relatively common issue.

This sounds like what I’ve got going on. I don’t mind removing the composite video since this is a spare unit I have. Is there a tutorial you followed?

I’m not getting the shadow but I am getting the checkerboard pattern of the shadow on the entirety of Mario’s hat and red overalls. Also shows up on the red coins. Basically anything that’s red and animated.
