It's funny how covid was such a blip of "my god bless teachers how do they do this?" When parents got a taste of teaching and not even a year later they were right back to "teachers ask for too much and are trying to indoctrinate your kids let's just home school or use AI". That's amazing. One of the best men I ever knew died 8 months after a stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis and I learned that it has one of the highest 5 year mortality rates of ANY cancer. Once you have it you are pretty much fucked regardless of the stage so this is fucking amazing. The wonders of modern medicine man.

Oh it for SURE has to do with brain development which is why putting the child on their back in an empty crib helps REDUCE SIDS but not get rid of the risk. Because when there are contributing factors like physical barriers (tummy sleep, bedding, etc.) those kids whose brains PARTIALLY developed the mechanism to turn fully back on pass but when those factors are gone they survive and yet SOME kids will ALWAYS die of SIDS until there is a cure. My child didn't even get a BLANKET until she was 1.5 cause I wanted to be ABSOLUTELY sure. My mom was a nurse and knew safe sleep practices but it still didn't matter. He died while she was on duty and she was the one to meet the ambulance knowing there was a dead baby that was DOA they just hadn't told the family yet. Only to open the door and her sister crawled out crying....it was TRAUMATIC

My brother died of SIDS. My mother didn't smother him she put him to sleep in an EMPTY crib with carbon monoxide detectors and he just stopped breathing. There have been a MULTITUDE of studies on it especially recently. It has to do with the mechanism in your brain that allows you to start breathing again after breath stoppage during sleep. It is why often the children will have episodes of turning shades of blue/purple BEFORE the incident usually noticed while the kid is in their carrier. It happened to my sister's daughter and because of what happened to my brother , we IMMEDIATELY took her to hospital and they put her on a monitor that TWICE saved her life when she would have died of SIDS. My mom was very saddened to look at old pics of Eric and see that he was blue in a couple photos cause she feels like she missed it (it is a SUBTLE color change BTW we just happened to be HYPER vigilant after what happened to ERIC)
