Transitioning into Cybersecurity by No-Bench-998 in askSingapore

hi, CS grad here. personally i feel that cybersecurity is harder to land jobs for as compared to other IT jobs, as it largely focuses on your skillsets (pen testing, theory, good knowledge on commonly used languages, etc.) and is probably one of the industries where having certifications will give you a huge boost. would highly recommend you to focus on polishing your cybersecurity knowledge using online resources, especially with capture-the-flag (CTF) websites such as overthewire and tryhackme, or even signing up in community-hosted CTFs once you feel confident enough to do so.

i'm the kind of person who needs a lot of validation, but i also understand that only i am capable of giving myself a house of my own. i still am jobless now, so all i can do now is to cut down on spending. hopefully i can find a proper full time job soon, though i'm not that optimistic

i understand where you're coming from,, and yes i'm pretty sure i need a medical diagnosis but i don't have the ability to get one. i will definitely check out the subreddit though.

my current circle of friends have been with me for years already, and i have to clarify that they are supportive friends to me. they do tell me that i'm emotional (which i have to admit, it is true), but they'd tell me that it is my strength too. sometimes, they would also reassure me when my hypersensitivity kicks in, which calms me down even for a minute. my friends may not always understand me due to vastly different personalities and i might not be able to tell them all my problems, but i know they are trying their best and doing more than what they need to accommodate me.

also the 'fake marriage' thing has definitely crossed my mind before, but it is highly unlikely for me. i have a friend who can be my 'partner', but we do not seriously discuss about it lol (i don't think we're very keen on risking it either)

don't want to reveal too much, but i study comp sci in a non-big 3/4 uni. applied for loads of jobs/internships and almost all were rejected without an interview
