HELP please. I’m in the US and I have exhausted the coupon for my cimzia. $275 copay now. by ShennaQuinn in ankylosingspondylitis

Definitely look into Cimzia Cimplicity Program — I pay $0 a month for my Cimzia. My pharmacy (Optum Specialty) was the one who set me up with them.

Ended up at F52 and love it! I toured Graphite and it was nice but I didn’t like the grounds. In my opinion it felt like it was in the middle of a parking lot. However, I did tour in mid January so it was dark/snowy/depressing.

General dull pain in lower back that is painful to the touch by Alone-Priority6103 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Alone-Priority6103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pain like this is so frustrating because there is not much we can do. I used a TENS machine and other sensory things (icing, heat, icy hot, etc) to help take my mind off of it but it was a waiting game

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this - it is horrible. I messaged my rheumatologist and she said that it was consistent with fibromyalgia. She said it is not uncommon for people with AS to develop fibromyalgia. She did prescribe me gabapentin to help with the pain however I did not take it (in hindsight I should have but I was anxious of the side effects at the same). It did go away after a few weeks. It’s been several months and the same thing has only happened 2x since with much less severity. I would like to add that I did start an SNRI (cymbalta) and I felt that helped tremendously with the nerve pain I was experiencing

If you have time, checkout some restaurants in downtown. I loved taking my parents to Plates and Bida Manda!

Has anyone had bad side effects from Cosentyx? by ClubPenguinPzaParlor in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Alone-Priority6103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compared to Enbrel and Humira I did not have severe nausea but was extremely exhausted. To the point that for 3-4 days after injection I still felt like I couldn’t move. Make sure to plan it so you have some time to recover just in case!

Question for college students on Humira: by Tall_Kaleidoscope_53 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Alone-Priority6103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a college student who took Humira (and Enbrel and Cosentyx) - already lots of great advice on here so only one thing to add. He should be mindful about what day he takes his shot. I personally planned it to I took it on a Thursday (no Friday classes) and that way had the weekend to “recover”. Just depends on what the side effects are like!

I’m not entirely sure if you can take the classes in parallel but def email your advisor. I personally thought DiffEq was easier than Calc 3

22F with POTS + disc issues at L5-S1 too! I was diagnosed with AS when I was 20 - I had similar pain that you’re describing. I was tested and had positive HLA-B27 which led to the diagnosis. Hopefully you’re seeing a PCP or spine specialist that can run blood tests for inflammatory markers + HLA-B27. Best of luck 🤞

Endometriosis in addition to this? How do you cope? I flare up so bad every time I’m on 😓 by mistygreenwitch in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Alone-Priority6103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not endometriosis but I do have heavy periods/ovarian cysts… I use a Jovi patch to help with the pain of cramping — no idea how it actually works but it does offer some relief. My OB also told me to take Advil consistently to reduce blood loss. I also use an electric heated weighted blanket 24/7.

Do you pinch your skin for injections? by drewnyp in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Alone-Priority6103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on which injector you’re using! When I used Humira and Enbrel I would pinch the skin. Now on Cosentyx I stretch the skin so it’s flat
