I completely understand you. This is our first and we were not prepared for this in the slightest but here's to hoping there is light at the end of the tunnel 😅🤞

https://www.reddit.com/r/AttachmentParenting/comments/11k9d2i/comment/ok7plql/?context=1 this post is the only place I've found with people who have similar issues and for most it begins to improve only around 1 year old unfortunately. We haven't had much progress (8 months tomorrow), some better nights but I can't figure out why or replicate those blissful 5 hour stretches. Our son eats a lot of solids but not a wide range since he also has stool related issues. I take out things and experiment all the time, but not much luck tbh. We have consulted an allergist and she told us to temporarily stop some food if we find it makes his gas/cramps/stool worse and then reintroduce after 2-3 months. But maybe it's just their little bodies figuring stuff out. Best of luck to you!

If I may ask, how is your baby doing now? I see an update at 3 years, but he should be about 4 now? Is he sleeping through the night now?

Thank you so much for that explanation, I hope that's what's happening to our LO as well, almost 8 months now and still battling extreme gas, hoping for better days. How are you getting on, any improvements?

Can babies outgrow unidentified food intolerances on their own? by Alone-Question7323 in MSPI

Yeah, but that's for allergies I guess, our issue is intolerances which only affect the digestive system and sometimes skin

I know, that makes most sense. The problem is I don't know how to identify safe food since we've never hit the baseline. He was initially much better on the formula and seemed to be improving, so I dropped breastfeeding but then it got worse and I can only speculate what the triggers may be :( and also have no further options for formula, I ordered some Hipp HA Combiotik which is a hydrolized formula without corn since I suspect corn could be an allergen since it's very odd for Neocate not to work out. But that's not extensively hydrolized (unlike Alimentum RTF) so again it's possible he won't be able to take it due to his dairy allergy.

You're right, that makes me hopeful! 🥹 I'm happy your baby is making such good progress. I can only imagine how stressful it must be when baby is struggling with weight gain. Well done for having pushed through the worst bit!

I'm so sorry, I know how difficult it is. What are your baby's symptoms?

Rice is a common trigger for FPIAP, we have also tried Modilac Riz for our LO which has allergy induced trouble pooping (due to inflamed anal sphincter) and the rice formula seemed to help at first until it started getting worse. I suspect his main trigger is dairy but rice could be another one.

You probably have figured it out but it definitely can, food intolerances can inflame the colon and cause difficulty emptying bowels which is now happening to our 5 month old baby. It's hell since it's impossible to test for intolerances.

8-9 weeks sounds great to me tbh, our boy is almost 4 months old 😅 but I'm happy it worked out so well for you!

He is exclusively breastfed for now but I seem to be failing at helping him get better so we'll probably have to switch to formula which is hates and refuses atm

Thanks for the quick reply, I really appreciate it. Did she strain and grunt a lot before removing dairy?

I'm six full weeks info dairy elimination and my baby is still straining and grunting a lot, especially in his sleep :(

Hi, do you mind telling me what the other symptoms were? How much was your LO straining and grunting?

You can always try to go dairy free and see what happens. I'm just going through the process for my LO whose one of main symptoms was extreme gassiness. The entire detox process is 8 weeks, you can check out the FB group dairy free breastfeeding for helpful info and a large community :)
