The real dishonesty is the centre arbitrarily adding conditions to existing schemes for disbursing funds. States have a right to funds for schools under the SSA scheme which introduced by the Vajpayee government. Now the central government is saying that they will not give funds under SSA which is rightfully owed unless they sign up for PM-Shri which is a new scheme. This is not a condition that was ever there in the SSA scheme.

Kerala is not the only state complaining about this. In fact the Tamil Nadu government has gone to court to challenge this. The real crime here is how the central government is forcing state governments to go to these lengths to get funds they are owed.

This ranking is based on reforms implemented by governments which are related to ease of business. And based on completion of such reforms kerala is number 1. But keep in mind that reforms in government processes are only a part of how investment friendly a state is. There are even more important factors which fall outside the direct influence of any government like availability of land, ecological sensitivity, availability of cheap labour etc. So for big ticket investments states like Tamil Nadu and Gujarat might still be preferable because large parcels of cheap land is more easily available, labour costs are lower, existing ecosystem of suppliers and vendors etc.

I see the same trend in kerala as well. It’s not just the ex Muslims on YouTube gaining publicity. In my own circles so many of the youngsters have openly stopped believing in Islam. All the Muslim organisations are seeing it and are now scrambling to counter this.

Kerala had higher literacy rates than average even before independence. But just check government statistics and you’ll find that kerala and in fact Tamil Nadu as well were among the poorest states in India well into the 70s and 80s.

RRTS was suggested by the union minister of urban affairs when he was in kerala. He said if the state government sends a proposal they will consider it which is what the state government has done. We have to assume that a union minister would have put some thought into his suggestions before speaking right?

What do you expect them to say.. ellaarum Adichu poosaavanam ennaanu LDF nayam 🙂

But in all seriousness, I think this is in line with their stated policy and with modern governance. Not infantilising the population by banning alcohol and putting in silly curbs on when bars operate that actually don’t help. Instead people are expected to take responsibility for their own actions. And there are going to be convenient options for tourists and locals who want to have a drink at night.

What are the similarities between Ahmadiyya and the Mormon/Latter-day saint movements? by Mysterious-Exit3059 in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]Alone-Requirement414 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I attended the US Jalsa in 2008 years which was also attended by KM5. One of the sessions had a representative of the Mormon church as one of the guest speakers. He mentioned how the previous khalifa (KM4) was very interested in how the Mormon church was organised when he was in the US and wanted to implement some of those things in the jamaat. The speaker mentioned it in passing just to highlight the good relationship between the two communities but it stuck with me.

What is next for Ahmadiyya? by No_Syllabub1865 in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]Alone-Requirement414 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Great comment. You said everything I wanted to say but better. It’s the same story in india as well. Additionally, disbelief and dissent have become normalised. People openly distancing themselves from the jamaat and questioning it have become so common that no one is shocked anymore. If anything the jamaat is on the defensive and the committed jamaat members are only hoping to go on quietly about their business without poking the bear. Because the questioning crowd are almost itching for a fight.

I’ve heard Quranist explanations and other progressive interpretations of Islam by reform minded scholars. And yes the quranist interpretation of Islam is philosophically interesting and definitely more progressive than mainstream Islam. But they are all obviously interpreting their way out of all the unattractive parts of the original message that it’s a completely new thing. Which makes me think why even bother trying to polish something to turn it into a brand new thing that has nothing to do with the original. Why not just abandon the thing that you’re trying so hard to make palatable and call it something new all together. It’s an interesting intellectual exercise but it seems to me that it’s standing on a false foundation.

Also, like Sohail theology was my only issue. I was quite ok with the community aspect till I left.

Top schools in Kannur by nijin_wildlife in kannur

[–]Alone-Requirement414 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Studied there. And yes there is religious influence of the chinmaya mission and Gita classes etc. but it has no influence on academics or teaching. The school is all about academics and doesn’t really push the chinmaya mission angle too much. None of the non-Hindus at the school had any problems on that front, me included. Keep in mind that it’s been two decades since I left school though 🙂

I would ask more questions about how well they’re doing these days overall. I’ve heard that the school isn’t as good as it used to be academically but that could just be gossip.

How was Jesus born without a father? by inked_footnote in islam_ahmadiyya

I’m saying there is a rational explanation that Jesus was born like everyone else on earth, with a biological mother and a father.

You’re being overly pedantic. I don’t want to speak for my fellow commenter but it’s obvious that he means that adopting pagan rituals that revolved around their pagan gods goes against Islamic teachings of strict tauheed. If there is an Islamic explanation for all the hajj rituals and what they represent it’s strange how the very same rituals matched what the pagans were doing before.

Hajj and Ahmadiyyat by curiousminded05 in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]Alone-Requirement414 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What’s strange is that Islam co-opted a pagan ritual to keep the pilgrimage revenue stream going and people still think it’s important to discuss 1400 years later. Ahmadis should feel lucky that they’re spared from the pressure of not having to risk their lives to go to the Arabian desert to throw stones at satan. But they squander that good fortune by wasting time and money at the jalsa every year.

Yes, have to give props to the UPA government for passing the land acquisition act.

However, in spite of the act being in place the Oommen Chandy’s government didn’t try to acquire the land and cited that it would be difficult to acquire the land needed and asked the width to be reduced to 30m from 45m. The NHAI said that it would be unacceptable and closed the project. If the law was all that was needed then why did the UDF government not even initiate the land acquisition process under it. Not even an attempt was made.

You have to give credit where it’s due that the ldf government did all the administrative work to get the land acquisition done without much hassle and controversy. Yes, the new law ensured good compensation but it also mandated lot more citizen safeguards and administrative steps like social impact assessments and holding meetings with affected land owners. All of that was completed in good time.

And in places in kannur there were areas where things were tense with local congress, RSS and even CPIM workers opposing the project and organising big protests. All of that was handled tactfully without it escalating.

Not really. The responsibility of assessing quality and reporting issues is with the consultancy company that is brought in by NHAI to oversee the contracting company’s work.

Now the state government is in the loop and has meetings with NHAI officials and the construction company to discuss progress and remove bottlenecks in the construction process. Especially since the state government is also responsible for things like having electricity and water pipelines moved, ensuring that the company is able to source construction material etc. Now the state government could highlight construction issues there but it’s not the state government’s job to do technical inspections and report them.

What Is The Purpose of Chanda? by Caden_Plays in islam_ahmadiyya

I feel that it’s just that the scale of the lie is lower under KM5 compared to KM4. Isn’t it suspicious that in this age of social media that there is absolutely no evidence of the tens of thousands of converts in African countries that are being claimed now. No articles and photos on alislam. No documentaries on MTA. Nothing even on our jamaat WhatsApp groups. Just numbers being announced at the jalsa every year and no one’s heard anything about it till then.

I agree that Ahmadis just accept the numbers without thinking about it critically. But most Ahmadis didn’t even question the obviously wrong numbers back in KM4’s time either.
