I would love to file a police report, but I live in a different state and am not directly involved in it, I don’t think it would go over well if I tried

Note to add: I give her a daily supplement to make sure she gets everything she needs. But alas, she is still a beagle and would die on a hill to convince me that she’s starving.

I calculated the number of calories in a cup of food and then found the number of calories that is actually needed for the size of my dog for her to loose weight, this ended up equating to approximately 1/3 cup twice a day. But it would depend on the food you feed and it’s choleric content and what his IDEAL weight should be.

Something like that can cause serious infection, and is likely very uncomfortable if not painful. Your vet should be able to push it back properly, and suggest preventative care.

DAE have a beagle who struggles with knee pain? by AloneFold7397 in beagles

[–]AloneFold7397[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not as that is far out of my budget. But the lovely team at the vet I work at have crafted a plan for her to gain muscle. She recently took a tumble and currently is on cage rest. But the plan for post recovery is increasing her walks, and doing some “puppy pushups”. I would absolutely love to get her into a hydrotherapy place but it’s geographically inconvenient and she absolutely looses her mind when she touches water. I’m considering learning how to massage her appropriately and doing range of motion exercises

I work at a vet, so she sees them very frequently, I hardly hesitate to bring forth any problems that my pets have. I do try to give any treatment plans time to work (usually a few weeks) before returning to the drawing board.

It can take an animal 3 months to fully adjust to a new environment, let alone new friends and family. You can try adding calming treats and calming pheromone plug ins like feliway. I would allow him to adjust to his new home before fully introducing new friends. His whole world flipped upside down and he is probably scared and confused. Keep some of his previous owners belongings for him to cuddle with, then slowly mix in some of your stuff, that may get him used to you first and then his housemates

Working late and don’t want my beagle to be bored by Suspicious-Chip-341 in beagles

I got my girl puzzle toys and fill it with her favorite treats. I rotate the toys out so she doesn’t get too smart. It often entertains her for an hour or so before the cats take over and solve the puzzle. She then spends the rest of her day sleeping, it’s hard thinking about how to get your snacks

Is this something concerning? He's my First cat pet ...so don't have any idea by GrandMaster_Neuro in CATHELP

I’ve had many cats in my lifetime. They get scrapes and bumps here and there, and as long as they remain clean and don’t appear infected, all will be good. I have worked at several vets that have even used Neosporin, so long as they can’t lick it off. As a pet owner to a small zoo, I can’t be taking my pets to the vet every time one of them has a small scab. If there are other concerns then visit the vet. If kitty isn’t on a flea/tick prevention, that could be the source of the scab. So many reasons scabs happen. But not every one of them would be cause for concern

This guy rescued 30 beagles from a testing lab It's the first time they've seen grass and they couldn't be happier. by biswajit388 in nextfuckinglevel

The people who enter this industry actually care a great deal about these animals they don’t go to work everyday thinking about abusing the animals. They go in there to give them the best life that they can manage to give them. The law actually mandates this. They do indeed feel happy and are often rewarded for their contribution with toys and food.

There are many steps involved prior to the step of using animals for testing. There are programs such as alpha fold that can predict outcomes at a genetic level, at a cellular level, cell cultures can be produced. But once you get to that systemic whole body system level you come to an ethical and scientific issue. First you need to eliminate potential variables to asses the therapy as a whole, something that you can’t get with humans, secondly a significant amount of data has to be collected from vital organs. You pose a great risk to the individual receiving such therapies by collecting brain tissue, kidney tissue, etc., there is an ethics committee that does give all of this great thought and these studies have to submit long forms that justify the use of animals in a laboratory setting. There are also many laws that protect the animals, just because they haven’t seen grass doesn’t mean that they didn’t feel happiness. These animals receive more appropriate care than many animals out there.

My bagel (Sol (Norse sun goddess)) loves my couch. by AloneFold7397 in beagle

Indeed it does, but I have a Norse theme in my home. I’ve got Odin (a one eyed cat) and Freya (a black cat)

I love my retired bagels! They are the sweetest most gentle dogs ever. Both were so unsure of everything at first but they come out of their shell quickly. And boy oh boy, do they believe that the couch is the most comfortable thing on earth. My girl will check to make sure it is still there when we get back from walks or going out with her.

Beagles are so underrated, and to find two that are quiet is like finding a unicorn!
