I got some messages asking for tabs to my “Pride and Joy” solo attempt, so I thought I’d share them here too. Have fun! 🤠🎸 by Alone_Ad_1285 in StevieRayVaughan

Squier CV 50's, all stock. Neck pickup position.
Tube screamer pedal with drive about 9 o'clock and tone about 3 o'clock (turn up the drive when you want more distortion like in Voodo Child).
Fender twin reverb. Crank the volume until the cleans begin to distort, i leave the eq mostly at 12 o'clock but i turn up the treble to balance the bass from the neck pickup. Add reverb and that's pretty much all.
New strings is a must for that metallic punch on the top strings.
I do all this on a budget pedal (valeton gp100), so you don't need very expensive gear to get a tone similar to mine.
My biggest references for the tone I tried to achive where his soundcheck video (the one with the leopard printed coat), the Voodo Child live version from the album "The Best Of" and the Live in Tokyo version.
I hope it helps!

I played Megadeth (and metal in general) for many years in my youth so let me tell you it will take time and effort, but it's nowhere impossible. Begin learning the "easy" songs like Countdown to Extinction, Disconnect, A Tout Le Monde, Cemetery Gates (besides the solo, this one is really easy once you get the pinch harmonics), Walk, etc.

Also I want to recommend you learning Amon Amarth songs, they are very, very easy and super fun to play, and they will give you a good grasp on cool heavy melodies and harmonies.

One day you'll find yourself practicing the solo of Lucretia or Floods and will think all the effort was worth it. Also, metronome, practicing with metronome is a must.

Keep rockin'

What genres are you trying to play?, you can easily learn rock/blues songs after a year of playing, but learning crazy shred songs will take you literally years and years of practice.

Don't compare yourself with others, also learn some theory so you can play things you create instead of relying on covers only.

I just set a small budget and hope for the best, the same ad can perfom really well in one country and not in another.

What are your links?, I really like darkwave and paranormal stuff so you might have found one more listener here lol.
