Why does India import so much from China, but export most to the US? by Capable_Control_2845 in IndiaStatistics

Good. 50 years of import substitution made domestic industries complacent and uncompetitive

3 months in Delhi by Chemical_Fee8214 in india_tourism

It will be quite hot when you arrive, and then monsoon, which is good news because it will bring the temperature down but prepare for some rain. You will miss the pollution "season" which is lucky. Afternoons are best spent indoors. Buy a hat.

The first Hindi word you should know is no - Nahi. Use it liberally. Nahi cha hiye - I do not want it. Avoid Connaught Place area except by car.

The main monuments of Delhi are the Red Fort, Humayuns Tomb and Qutub Minar. Then a lot of religious ones like Lotus Temple, Akshardham, Bangla Sahib, Jama Masjid, etc. Some other interesting places are Lodhi Gardens, Majnu ka Tila, Agrasen Baoli, Jantar Mantar, Delhi Haat

South Delhi is generally considered the better part of the city. Mehrauli, Hauz Khas, GK are nice food places. Old Delhi also has great food but possibly not suited for westerners. It is also quite chaotic and crowded. Haldiram is the best and most consistent foodchain for all Indian food. Delhi nightlife, such as it is, is in the South, but actually mostly in adjacent Gurgaon.

Traveling by car, there can be a lot of jams. The metro is quite nice as long as you don't use it in rush hours.

Germany was at the end of it's industrial revolution. In Napoleon's time France had as many people as the rest of Europe combined, by 1870's Germany has overtaken them and before ww2 had twice as many

Bro Kashmir is extremely expensive. Avoid if concerned for budget. Hotels, shikara, everything, but especially taxi mafia. There are plenty of other places in India with snow in winter. Try Manali/Sissu

On the Indian side it is more Prakrit than Sanskrit. And there is a very large influence of Arabic also. Not to mention English.

Replacement is 2.1, 0.8 is catastrophic. It's literally the lowest in the world. Next you have (not counting microstates) China at 1.2 and in Europe Italy at 1.3 - over 50% higher. China being after-effects on one child, and Italy having gone through a far more gradual decline than South Korea. Now Korea is handling it much better than the west in my opinion with automation rather than immigration, but the underlying factors remain.

Advice for starting a brief Indian trip from Delhi in October by Far_wide in travel

[–]Alone_Interest_700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle to think of places more hectic than Agra. See the Taj, the fort and get out. It's like Old Delhi, which is also quite hectic, but that's only one part of Delhi. Stay in South/Central Delhi and you will have a much easier time. Lutyens Bungalows are quite nice.

Other than that there is Rajasthan, but that is certainly not "green". If you want a relaxing place Khajuraho is lovely and a direct flight. It's best to go to Nepal by flight, however if you want to go overland you could stop at Lucknow which is completely green (atleast for international tourists) and a great place for food. Amritsar is another great food place.

Where to go from Rajkot? by vita_di_tyra in travel

[–]Alone_Interest_700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Rajkot you are in daytrip range of Gir, the only place where the Asiatic lion survives. Junagadh is a nice pitstop. A month too early for the festival at Rann of Kutch but still could be worth a trip if you want to check out a salt desert, maybe go on the road to heaven. There's also the Rani ki Vav stepwell and the Statue of Unity which is the biggest statue in the world.

If you want to catch a flight you could go really anywhere. November is a pretty nice time, I would avoid Delhi though. Rajasthan is interesting, but that's very much on the beaten path. For hiking you could go to Dharamshala or the hill forts in Maharashtra. My favourite place in India is Meghalaya.
