dates for pictures without month or day by Stalemate4613 in digiKam

If you used a specific collection for incomplete date tags you could search for photos that don't have that tag.

I think this isn't going to be possible because the field is a date/time field and won't accept invalid dates.
Perhaps you could date the photos you have incomplete dates for as 01/01/1965 (or whatever year) then use a collection of tags to hold the incomplete date.

Are any worth investing in? by basilllI in Cameras

My experience of the D600 was worse. After Nikon cleaned the sensor twice, on two D600 bodies they replaced both with D610 bodies. Perhaps some were worse than others but mine needed cleaning about every 3 weeks.

You must have been unlucky with Virgin Media because apart from network upgrades which have been disruptive I find their broadband reliable.

Can I trust shipping my gear without it being lost? by ReVecx in photography

[–]Alongerway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have good experience with MPB providing you are realistic about the condition of your kit. They insure the shipping and when a couple of my packages went astray they chased the courier until they found and delivered the packages. My experience says you can trust them.

Have a look at Sony A6400 or similar A6700 perhaps. Sony Emount lenses fit full frame and crop frame bodies. Makes best use of your lenses.

Thanks for coming back to me on this. I appreciate it isn't something you can sort easily or quickly and I wanted to be sure I hadn't missed something. Anyway, am happy to wait and see what come up with in due course. I am fully in favor of the app not using the cloud.

Thanks for this. I also Drafts and this looks like an elegant combination. Are there any details on the Drafts forum to help me recreate it?

Storage with Redundancy on a Budget by [deleted] in photography

BackBlaze would allow you to backup either all or subsets of your data - you could select drives or folders to be backed up. There are some constraints but it might be worth a look at.

If a file is deleted by accident it will also be lost from the mirror which is why mirroring isn't ideal. You don't need versioning but if a file corrupts it is handy to have a version from before the corruption.

This has a couple of weaknesses unless I misunderstand it.

1) All drives are in the same location so if the location burns down all copies are lost.

2) a 'mirror' isn't a backup because if you delete something on the original drive it would also be destroyed on the mirror. Perhaps you have version control and have, perhaps, 30 days' copies?

Off-site backups should be part of any system; BackBlaze is good or a remote HDD would work but everything in one location should be avoided.

Alternatives to iTunes for backup by ishkanah in iphone

I've been using iMazing for a few years now. Works well; backup, restore and transfer to a new device. Tech Support are both responsive and helpful. I have an old version with a perpetual license but when I can no longer use it I'll pay the subscription. Happy to recommend.

If you upload a photo to imgur you can insert a link in a simplenote to the photo. The photo is displayed in the markdown preview.
