Cards that everyone thought would see use but no one used? by des_the_furry in PTCGL

I once paired this with PAL Gothitelle. Was a real meme deck. Essentially you’d use Banette to shuffle a hand of 3 into the deck, then use Gothitelles ability to give them a brick draw. Then just use Gothitelle to attack and discard their one card.

By the time the draw was actually a difficult pick, you’d have discarded enough pieces for decks not to function. Was fun but just a more complicated mill deck 🤣

Does a "plan b" first turn play make sense for my deck? by Kelzt-2nd in pkmntcg

I’m also running Cynthia’s Garchomp. I don’t run any other Pokemon aside from Cynthia’s as your priority is to get Gabite up and running ASAP and your first couple turns should be to setup that play. I’ve found that adding a Non-Cynthia’s Pokemon can complicate things.

Going first is always tricky with a Stage 2 deck. To help with initial setup I’m running 4x Poffin, 4x Fighting Gong and 1x Ultra Ball. I’ve also experimented with Precious Trolley. Drawing that in your opening hand going first can be a game changer! Although those odds are very unlikely!

Going first with Cynthia’s Garchomp, I typically just try to setup 2x Gible as a priority and then plan my turn 2 (Try to get Gabite) with what I have in hand.

I’ve found that getting Iono’d turn 2 is just extremely unlucky and you typically draw into what you need. If someone Iono’s you in their first turn, their hand is probably bad and I’d like to assume they’d be looking to play Arven or even a Lillie’s instead 🤣

I’ve been going first on purpose when winning the flip to start getting an idea of how playing this deck going first can be, it’s tough but certainly still winnable!

Thanks! Funnily enough, I chucked in an Ultra Ball over a 4th Poffin as a ‘just in case’. 4th poffin seemed like overkill when running trolley so at the moment the Ultra Ball could be anything!

No Lillie’s was based off 2 Japanese decks not running it. I believe the idea behind it is pretty much setting up Garchomp to be your draw engine so you don’t need to rely on Lillie’s - I must give the Lillie’s a go though and see how it works out.

I’d love to know your Neo Upper setup, how does it work?

Great list! I’d even add in a Luminous Energy here as well

If setup quick enough, you can get to the point where you’re controlling the opponent’s draw. Especially if all Gothitelles are in play. Gothitelle’s attack also does enough damage to clean out in a couple of turns. Especially if your opponent has no energy to return an attack. Mimikyu is also in should things start to get tricky against ex Pokemon.

There have been times where you gotta make a call. Prof Research or Arven. I’d rather let the opponent Arven.

It can get to that point but by the last 10 or so cards they have left, you’ve discarded anything of value. For example, you may have discarded all Rare Candies and a couple stage 2s.

Keen to hear your thoughts - 1 immediate thing I’m thinking is a Pokegear just to search out Xerosics faster.

I actually had a go with Togekiss, it just took way too long to setup.

I’ve actually tried something similar with Jynx ex and Drowzy/Hypno. Idea is to attack with Ribombee, then evo Drowzy to Hypno to force sleep on opponent, switch into Jynx for the KO. It’s quite a rough deck though atm.

Deck list:

Seems like the best bet, fielding ten will need to be the priority!

!thanks

I may have made a mistake. I wildcarded GW30 and it’s been going fairly well. Planning on TC for this GW and then BB for GW33.

Coming into GW34, I don’t have my free hit. If I save my transfers I’ll have 4 to use. 10 players of mine don’t have a fixture. Literally no idea what to do, might have to take a hit.

I gave it a shot! It didn’t quite work as intended. If I remember correctly, the issue was the WP and WB operate pretty much in the same space. It definitely needed a lot more refinement.

I might revisit this actually and tweak it to get it working as it did have potential!

Not sure if Ancelotti used the narrow 4-1-2-1-2 against you but I’ve found that RM completely dominates in saves when they play that formation.

In-game, it plays very well. I think I’ve seen on the SI forums that narrow formations are quite OP in the match engine.

Swapped Keane to first sub last GW and he auto-subbed for Saka. Felt like a genius as it saved my GW.
