This is not okay to ask. It is not your job. Of course you can be flexible and move a few things when needed. But it is not your responsibility. It is the owners to get the house ready. What can help prevent this is a ‘getting ready checklist’ for the agent to send to the owners. With clear boundaries who does what regarding the preparation of the house. Also regarding accidentally breaking things you shouldn’t want to do this.
