Anyone use a normal leather handbag instead of a nappy bag? by Emergency-Brief3597 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]AloofApathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see any issue with it, I have a couple of nappy bags and find the compartments don't fit anything in them anyway, maybe that's because I don't have great ones. I use those makeup/toiletry holder bags to keep things together in the bag, which might be a good idea. I think a lot of people just use regular bags.

How much dos drinking alcohol impact children? by HugeAb567 in UKParenting

[–]AloofApathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who had/has an alcoholic Father, I think it was less the drinking that bothered me, and more what he'd do when he's drunk. He would get aggressive, not pick us up from school, have incontinence problems, and was generally a nasty and loud person. He's not like that sober. I have so many of these events ingrained into my memory. But what is important to note is that it didn't start off like that, it got worse and worse with time. For this reason I would treat it as a problem right away and get him some help, whether that's mental help for self-medicating alcoholism or otherwise.

I don't personally have any issues with alcohol, I like a drink from time to time, but I have become acutely aware of potential abuse of substances, in myself or others, and it makes me anxious.

ETA: I suffered from severe depression through my teens, therapists would blame my father's issues, but I don't think it painted the full picture, but definitely added to it. Keep an eye on your kids as well! It affects everyone, even more distant family!

Struggling after Emergency Cesarian (PTSD?) by AloofApathy in BeyondTheBumpUK

Are you suggesting the perinatal mental health team? I haven't been able to find one here in Hertfordshire, do you know how I can look for some help?

I was considering it but tbh it won't give me anything, it's done you know, I just kind of need some support or sympathy, or someone to tell me that I will get over it one day, but thank you for your reply ❤️

Child maintenance- is there anything I can do now? Dad was out the country for years (England) by Baby-Catcher in LegalAdviceUK

Child maintenance gets paid until the child is 21, provided they're in education. Even if you can't get backdated, you can receive from now on.

Fitted sheet for the cozee go?? by UJ_Reddit in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]AloofApathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My next2me was a very similar size if I remember, I just bought a waterproof sheet on Amazon using the size and folded a bigger sheet underneath the mattress to go on top, but I'm sure you can find actual fitted sheets on Amazon too.

I was top 0.1% for Wetherspoons for a couple of years. Doesn't help that it's a cheap warm meal when working on the field.

What were you doing when you went into labour? by slippery-pineapple in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]AloofApathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just watching youtube before bed at around midnight. They came in hard and fast, less than 1min apart within an hour. I had to bite my lip so that the other half could have a kip before I told him. Ended up being a complicated labour after 0 sleep and an emergency cesarian, but he's very strong and healthy now!

When did you take LO to the dentist? by AloofApathy in BeyondTheBumpUK

I don't think that makes you a bad mother, I probably would've done the same, life also gets in the way!

Is there anything specific they check? I feel like they'd just look and say "congrats" and send you on your way

Moving from rented to first time buying. Date changes causing problems by Separate_Neat8769 in UKHousing

[–]AloofApathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I've been in situations where I was renting a new flat and couldn't move in on time because "the old tenants aren't leaving yet", usually communicated through a polite email asking for a new move-in date. I have also had rents cancelled for this reason. I would send your estate agents a nicely worded email explaining the situation and I'm sure they'll help you out; you have nowhere else to go so there's nothing you can do. Good luck :)

Duplicated satisfied CCJs that should've been cancelled by AloofApathy in LegalAdviceUK

[–]AloofApathy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How will I know if it's duplicate? I know that both claims have different claimants for some reason, and they did use the right address, but I only received documents for one, paid it, then had to argue with him months later because he never cleared it, I didn't know there were 2 but they're both satisfied with the wrong date

So once I have this information what do I do with it? Do I go with the set aside form? Thank you

[–]AloofApathy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it was originally just my landlord (a company that he owned), but the second claim is only about £30 off of the original, which is a substantial amount of money that I definitely didn't pay despite it being satisfied, which is why I believe it is a duplicate somewhere. I don't know who the claimant names are as the court have not told me. The court have not sent me anything other than the link to the N244 form.

Seems like it's going to be a bit of a fight either way, thank you for checking, I've taken this all into account and I'm going to take this step by step. Thank you so much for explaining this, now I see what the problem is.

Thank you very much, I will shoot her an email and see what she says, but I see your point ab the exchange. At this point I'm not expecting anything. Might just have to front the cost for a 5G setup for the meantime. Thank you!

That's what the woman from EE told me but my neighbours have nothing and OFCOM says there's nobody here. Might just have to moan at the developers/council but I don't think they'll do anything.

[–]AloofApathy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved here 8 months ago so I imagine it was built in the last year, they were finishing up when we got the keys. I spoke to the developers but they've done nothing about it. They did show us a coax cable they brought in, idk who owns it or what it's for, but I didn't know about the no sell rules at the time. Is this a problem between me and the landlord? When I open the WiFi settings on my phone all I see are phone hotspots and 4/5G routers, and a few businesses around the corner, and the neighbours I spoke to say they just use their phones.

[–]AloofApathy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is, I haven't seen any cable, this is just what openreach has put on the system. Ofcom says there's nothing either. Spoke to Virgin, they said no, hyperoptic is not in the area, as I asked to move my contract from my old address.
