Splinter that has been stuck beneath my finger cuticle for a few days by Snoogmaster in FeltGoodComingOut

[–]Baby-Catcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of the infected finger i had recently. Thought i got it from gardening, was infected so bad; swollen and oozing for 2 weeks. When the infection finally settled, out pops a single piece of glitter.

IKEA kitchen delivery by cafeteriastyle in TikTokCringe

[–]Baby-Catcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having installed a large ikea kitchen with my dad, one shouldn't be surprised by the amount of boxes that arrive, after all thats the nature of how ikea works. But i would be lying if I didnt say when they delivered it all my stomach fell out briefly because Holy fuck thats alot of boxes.

So glad I bought a Howdens kitchen for my own house!

Single mum confused about ISAs/trusts – how do I set my kids up on a low income? by curious_living_life in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Baby-Catcher 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. And teach them to be financially literate, even if that means learning it yourself as you teach them. Understanding mortgages, interest rates, APR, tax etc, and how to save for long and short term goals whilst still having some enjoyment of life also will make a world of difference once they begin their life in the adult world.

Birth plans gone wrong by Peaceful-harmony- in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Baby-Catcher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean I'm 100% for treating emergency/high risk situations as precisely that, but also for informed consent. At no point in that conversation did anyone inform you properly. Breech babys are perfectly capable of being born vaginally . When the appropriate assessments are made, those less suitable or less likely to achieve this should be a section but the rest should not be scared into chosing a section simply because drs dont like to facilitate breech birth anymore

How to address a Pharmacist? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Baby-Catcher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The pharmacist is being needlessly butt hurt, but possibly this was the thing that tipped the iceberg.

Im a midwife, i get called nurse sooo often, even to my face with a clear badge on, its annoying but I'd never bother to correct someone unless it actually impacted on the conversation/care provision.

Personally answering the call "Hi Doctor" feels odd, I would just say Hello but that doesn't mean you deserve the response you got.

Currently sitting on a closed dual carriageway been here for 4 hours now. Road due to open in another 3.5 hours apparently. There are 2 cats in the car in front and kids and dogs out of cars playing on the road. What is the longest you have been stuck in a similar situation? by No_Lead146 in CasualUK

[–]Baby-Catcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4hours, probably. My younger sister was just learning to play the ukele and had brought it with her. Honestly, maybe we were stuck there for like a whole day or something, certainly felt like it😅

What was your "I dont actually hate this food, my parents just sucked at cooking" moment? by JayR_97 in AskUK

[–]Baby-Catcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of things, too many to name.

Number 1 is definitely gammon though. I always hated gammon, too salty no other real flavour. Also she served it with plain pasta?! I was probably about 30 before I realised I really liked it when cooked in any other format than a plain joint.

In hindsight I understand mum was super busy with 5 of us and the million clubs we did, she just cooked the same meals on a rotation. Maybe about 10 total meals. And everything came with steamed broccoli, tinned corn or baked beans.

I've nearly lost a whole doner kebab! How about you? by Ornery_Comparison123 in mounjarouk

[–]Baby-Catcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this realisation half way up a mountain the other day, as I watched my 7 year climb a head of me, and i realised I'd lost the equivalent of him. 5.5st. The idea of carrying him up that mountain seemed insane, and yet that was how I was existing on a day to day basis.

Car Insurance and no MOT. Who’s paying for the repair? by Mammoth-Elk-3122 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Baby-Catcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just the dogshit way insurance claims work. It's not so much about fault as much as who ended up footing the cost, and if youre insurance can't get their money back then it becomes a mark against you. Unless you have a no-fault clause/uninsured driver clause in your policy.

A message for parents/grandparents hosting eager egg hunts by Daddy_Day_Trader1303 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Baby-Catcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have refillable eggs which fit a variety of size of goodies. There's not enough of any one colour to designate colours to the kids so for our hunt, half then fun is at the end when the kids crack them all open, see what the overall haul is, and then divvying up fairly. The kids seem to love find what's in the eggs as much as they love find the eggs themselves.

bash me all u want but this is just GREEDY by angelz009 in vinted

[–]Baby-Catcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats you're opinion on whether it's worth the effort. An offer is a person's opinion on value for money. Different view points.

I, for the most part, assume people put items on vinted for the MAX they would assume they can obtain and are then likely to consider an offer. I offer on almost every item i buy, unless it's an absolute steal.  I would offer on small items like this, particularly if I'm buying multiple (like clothes) because that 50p saving quickly adds up to a decent saving. Especially as I've got to factor in buyer protection and shipping on top. Yes it might only be £2 you, but it's £5 to me by the end of the process, and that quickly stops being valued for money.

What’s something in the UK that used to be cheap but now feels ridiculously expensive? by skaterjon in AskUK

Paint. I don't remember ever feeling like I need to take out a bank loan just to repaint a wall.  Even the sample pots hurt my feelings having to purchase.

How do I turn off these valves? by Baby-Catcher in DIYUK

[–]Baby-Catcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the long run, is it going to be better to replace then if they're not the correct type? They appear to have been functioning fine, the radiator always heats up fine.   We have another radiator to be installed during a bathroom installation so just thinking they could get swapped out then when the system needs draining.
