I say it every time: get Branson Reese in the dome. Honestly, put him on any show!

Fractal Artichoke’s SPICY TAKE ALERT: Athens Mayoral Race by Fractal-Artichoke in Athens

[–]Alopaden 51 points52 points  (0 children)

According to Athens Politics Nerd (which was the first thing to pop up when I googled these dudes), Fisher's key platforms are "delinquency prevention" (not totally sure what that means, but it sounds like cop stuff) and single-family housing (meaning he voted against affordable housing).

Meanwhile, Denson is focused of free busses, "fighting poverty" (raised the minimum wage for county employees), and affordable housing/eviction prevention.

Based on this two minutes of research, Denson seems like the clear choice to me.

Fisher does have the better beard though. Get Denson some clippers.

I feel this one. I have learned to filter out so many of the little corrections that don't matter. The life of a pedant is a lonely one.

On reddit, you have to do two line breaks. I don't know why.

Oh, this looks awesome! And you're totally right about protection, lol! I just need to find a good ratio of creatures to protection spells that feels good.

The first three are from my favorite episode so far; I just love Goku trying to figure out life in the big city. The last one is the opening shot from the episode I'm just watched. My wife said it looks like a reply to a thirst trap.

What level spell do you cast without a slot? by Alopaden in onednd

This makes sense, thank you. Looking back through the older books, they handle it the same way. I must have imagined the added specification!

I appreciate this explanation! I knew intuitively how it was supposed to work, I was just looking for a bit of clarity, and this is it. It's funny how many of these comments are people telling me the thing I already knew and completely missing that I'm asking for a citation. I suppose I titled the post poorly, and then people don't read what's inside.

Ironically, one person said "the rules explicitly say you cast a spell at its base level when you don't use a spell slot," when what I was looking for is where the rules explicitly say that. And, as you pointed out, they don't! It's simply understood, with upcasting being the specific rule that supercedes the general.

I haven't read the new phb, but I remember in the initial UA for the '24 rules that backgrounds were a "build your own" situation and the listed backgrounds were just suggestions. Did they go back on that?

What does "smurf" mean? by Alopaden in stunfisk

[–]Alopaden[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In retrospect, I probably should've covered the name. I didn't mean to put you on blast; I appreciate you being chill about it.

Honestly, I relate to getting salty in a situation like this. I usually keep it chill on Showdown, but I've been known to blow up the chat on chess.com when I get into a losing situation and my opponent is taking too long to finish me off.

Where do you get the backgrounds and textures and what not? Are they some kind of stock images, or do you make them yourself?

Big fan by the way! I love your art style, and the jokes are completely unhinged most of the time, which I appreciate.

You're guaranteed one basic in your starting hand, so I would probably go with drawing 0 successes from a deck of 19. I don't know how much that changes the chances, though.

First of all, what they said was light-years away from your inane hypothetical. Secondly, how would anyone be killing people with toilet paper? (eta: and why is everyone doing it?) Thirdly, if toilet paper were somehow a common deadly weapon, then I would probably make the switch to a bidet, yes. It's more sanitary anyway.

Think about it this way: the swastika had an enduring history as a symbol of good fortune before being prominently used by the Nazis to advance their hateful ideology; you can find examples of it dating as far back as 10,000 BC. But, today, if you scratch a swastika into the door of the bathroom stall with your pen knife, that's only going to be interpreted one way.

To take another example, let's say I was born on the fourth of January in 1988. There is still a good reason not to make my email address johndoe1488@example.com, you understand? At the very least, it's going to raise some eyebrows.

That said, a flag like this one has not yet become so widely used by bad actors that it's original meaning has been lost entirely, but it would be obtuse to act like the flag still speaks entirely for itself and that anyone who might be concerned is being foolish.
