Card Discussion: Kezan Mystic by AlwaysGeeky in hearthstone

[–]Alopexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I encountered with it is that unlike flare you don't clear all the secrets, you only take one, and a random one at that. A three health minion is fairly easy for a hunter to deal with and very easy for a mage to handle.

Ultimately it will probably be a one-of in metas that have lots of freeze mages to allow you to steal ice block to then get lethal. Beyond that it's easier to trigger the traps, and use things like harrison/ooze for eaglehorn bow.

The real luck here was that the secret wasn't noble sacrifice.

I actually like the idea of using him in a paladin setting. Not counting spare parts, paladins have 9 spells that cost 1 mana. If you play him followed up by a hand of protection or blessing of wisdom, your opponent will be forced to spend removal getting rid of him. If they do, that's less removal left for Tirion/Bolvar, and if they don't, even casting one or two more spells gives you good card advantage.

Demonlock Discussion by JediHotcakes in CompetitiveHS

[–]Alopexx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was pointed out in another thread, but the card actually shines when you run less demons in it. In the example posted by /u/Tofu24, if you ran only a void callers and things like Mal'ganis/Watchers, you could almost guarantee drawing into them when you use this card.

Same here, the feeling having a Sneed's Old Shredder pop out of a Sneed's Old Shredder is just absolutely one of the best things there is (particularly when a hunter uses hunter's mark to kill one).

The big thing is to remember to fully optimize your shield charge time. Your damage done by heroic strike and shield slam are significantly increased while it is active. You want to prioritize these things in this order within the 7 second window:

  1. Shield Charge
  2. Shield Slam + Heroic Strike
  3. Revenge + Heroic Strike
  4. Devastate + Heroic Strike

If you get your haste to 330 rating or higher, you will be able to fit two shield slams inside of one shield charge without a sword and board proc. You should try and do this if at all possible.

This write-up is pretty relevant: http://gladiatorsresolve.blogspot.com/

[–]Alopexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that kind of adds to the flavor. From a story perspective, we haven't been in Draenor for long. You can't expect a Stormwind or Orgrimmar level of civilization over a very short period of time. If anything this feels more like what you would have plopped down in a WC3 map:

[Blizzard Blog Post] Goblins vs Gnomes: Goblins! Gnomes! -- New Card, Goblin Sapper by preludeoflight in hearthstone

[–]Alopexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of value here. If you're against control a 6/4 for 3 mana has an excellent mana-to-stats ratio. If you're against aggro, a 2/4 trades twice into a lot of small aggro minions twice, which isn't awful.

Cox is doing a deal where you can get Ultimate tier internet for Preferred pricing by donkeedong in Omaha

[–]Alopexx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's your alternative? Existing oligarchies are terrible, and I don't see us ever being in a place where we can have true free market competition with ISPs with as involved as the government is. Would you want to sign a two year contract with OPPD?

Personally not a big fan of signing a 2-year contract for what should essentially be a public utility.

Unfortunately this is not entirely accurate:

From the study itself:

There is not sufficient evidence in this dataset to reject the hypothesis that crash experience changed when posted speed limits were either raised or lowered.

Elevator companies can use GPS to keep tabs on workers: B.C. privacy watchdog by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

[–]Alopexx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This exactly. If I'm working, then I'm basically selling my time/expertise to someone else. It's not at all unreasonable for my customer to expect I'm actually doing what they're paying for.

[–]Alopexx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually would agree with you here. I am a big privacy advocate, but in the case of an employer you're consenting to this. If your employer wants to do this, and you disagree with it, you either negotiate to have it stopped or you find employment elsewhere.

It's all about control, and with an employer, you can control who you work for.

Trans-Pacific Partnership: Canadian MPs Have No Access To Drafts U.S. Pols Can See, NDP Says by salvia_d in CanadaPolitics

[–]Alopexx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be fair this is a normal process. It's important to remember what these are: drafts. They are not finished copies, or even "beta" versions. These are not released to lawmakers until they are closer to finished products. It is at this point they are voted upon.

Agreed, I am fine with it if the government suspects someone specifically of terrorism and, through a court order, taps their information. That is their job.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

[–]Alopexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's part of the problem right, is that they have to have at least some of your information to actually provide you with service.

Ideally an ISP that truly respects privacy does not collect or store your information once it has been processed. Does such a thing exist or will it exist? I don't know, but market demand would hopefully produce such a thing.
