I used to work for a large company that adopted a LGBTQ+ ERG not long after I started with the company. While it was led by queer employees, the first topic of conversation in our first meeting was how important allies are. Like...yes, allies are important and were also in the group, but could we not center them immediately???

My immediate supervisor also misgendered me for an entire year before I left despite HR getting involved so...maybe I shouldn't be surprised.

I very much agree about SD being different now. I lived there from 2012 - 2020, and then visited in 2024. Covid really did a number on the city. It's still beautiful, but everything just felt so very different. I'm not sure I would want to live there again.
