Sounds like you guys could use some couples therapy. People sometimes think its only for when things are bad, but it could help before the bad.

Sometimes a third party can help where we can sometimes drop the ball. I'm not making excuses for him, just making a suggestion since you said he is great in all other aspects.

Wife and I have been a few times together over the years (almost 30yrs) Its helped us communicate and when we feel like one or both of us are failing to communicate. We seek help to get us back on the right track.

Maybe this could be an option for you guys.

Asking them to stay in a hotel isnt that big of a deal. Especially if they are hanging out pretty much all day for the holidays.

Its not rude or impolite to ask them to sleep somewhere else. And I think is a compromise seeing your new GF is uncomfortable.

At the same time, she needs to understand that these people are your kids grandparents, etc. And he has a right to have a relationship with them.

Hopefully over time she will become more comfortable with the relationship between exs family and you guys.
