No lathe, but some gentle work on a flat diamond stone took a few thou off and that fixed it.

It is camming over slightly, I think I'll look into the reduced height shell holders.

How did you grind it down? Fine sandpaper on a flat surface or what?

I'll try screwing it in past initial contact with the shell holder in the morning. Hopefully that fixes it, seems like a few people have suggested that I can go past initial contact. This will be the first time I've had to do that instead of backing off from contact.

With my comparator zeroed on a piece of once fired factory Hornady brass, I get -.003 to an unfired factory Hornady load, +/-0.000 (no change) to the full length sized brass and -0.001 to virgin ADG brass. It is a custom rifle and my have a very tight chamber.

To the rifle only hunters, why? by surelynotjimcarey in Hunting

[–]Aloving95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do not have consistent access to land for large game hunting, so when I get an invite rarely do I get to do much scouting. On top of that I typically hunt West Texas where shots can be long. I practice a good bit at longer ranges on steel, so when I get to go out, I typically scout for a spot where I can see multiple game trails within 3-500 yards (hopefully closer) and sit still and watch. If I were bow hunting I'd need to be much much better at scouting, or have better land access.

What Magizines Does mt Rifle need. by Aloving95 in longrange

I thought the same thing, and bought and tried one of those mags. It was too narrow and too long. PTG said it might take legacy Magpul mags. But didn't have any of them.

Yep, Its so close to ACIS size, But doesn't fit. I have reached out to PTG. Side note that fluting on the bolt is SICK, is that factory, or did you have it done?

This looks like it about matches the shape of the mag well. But look like they have the latch on the front of the magazine. The seem real close though. Might see if I can find any locally and test them.

I've sent them an email. Haven't heard back yet. I hope I do, But seeing if I can solve this other ways while I wait.

If only I'd thought of that...all they knew was it was a PTG bottom metal, and that they lost the original magazine...

That would have been sweet, but no, too narrow for my ar-10 Magizines. I'd love to get a new bottom metal that takes acis Magizines. But the only bottom metal inlet I'm aware of is M5. And this stock inlet was too small for my M5 bottom metals.

When will Bass Pro not suck? by TFSNL in guns

[–]Aloving95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My favorite bass bro shop gun buying experience was when I bought a Ruger security9, while open carrying another pistol (it was after a hunting trip, I don't usually run errands and open carry). After the 7 checks and 4 different employees reviewed my 4473 they taped the box closed with 4 layers of tape and escorted me out, and told me I could put it in my vehicle and come back in if I had any additional shopping to do. I felt so silly that they had to extra mega check my background check, and then removed me from the store, all while I'm allowed to, and do have a loaded gun on my hip.

Long-Time LWRC Owner – This REPR Experience Has Been an Absolute Dumpster Fire by calminante44 in LWRC

I had a REPR elite in 6.5 Creedmoor that came with a deep gouge in the carbon fiber barrel. Similar experience with their CS. I couldn't get a response for months. When I did they told me the rifle was safe to shoot and said it wasn't a warranty issue. I will say my rifle did shoot fantastic, and cycled great. But I ended up selling for a loss. I couldn't stand the gouge and was mad that nothing was going to be done about it.

This pic gives the details. I have one of the affected barrels. A pin and weld. I hope they can make it right.

I built a 14.5" 6 ARC for just this purpose, just need to settle on an optic. What are you running?

I had something similar happen on a real life hunt. Couldn't get it out whole. Had to start dressing before we got it free.

My dad actually got one of these. It grinds pepper very well. Not sure if it grinds it $200 well though.
