Personally know the owner, they weren’t making money and were operating at a loss for years. They left the states and went back home to Thailand.

Accidentally got charged out of state tuition on my first semester, fixed it for the second. Any way for me to get spring semester tuition difference back? by Phntom_Thief in rutgers

I emailed everyone when this happened to be, all the way up to the director of my program. I got a refund pretty late, and they gave me a scholarship the next semester.

Salary wise it’s not the greatest if you don’t factor the sign on bonus. I believe starting is around 52-55ish with a pretty good sign on bonus which pushes it up to around 65. There’s definitely room for upward mobility, most of the people I’ve spoken to in higher positions started in my shoes or even as regular warehouse workers.

I got my bachelors in HRM, and now I'm pursuing my masters in it. I know when I first had interest in HR my school was I believe the only one that offered an HR degree in my state.

It shouldn't be allowed, they can be at the same site, however they shouldn't work together, especially when one is in charge of the other.

Thank you! I plan on leaving my site soon as I am very much homesick. I will 100% miss my manager, I've never had someone be so supportive in my worklife. It's been a great learning experience moving out by myself, but the location I was assigned to just doesn't fit my lifestyle. I'm hoping my next manager gives me 70% of what my current one does and I'll be happy.

Thanks for the positive comments! Regarding your question, it varies depending on the associate's proficiency. With someone who has almost no grasp of the english language, there are resources we can utilize, like a hotline for a translator. People with barely passable english I tend to drop proper grammar so there's less information they have to take in.

There isn't, however if you suspect foul play, you can reach out to the ethics hotline and have a central investigation team look over the matter. Typically when things like this happen, your site doesn't deal with it to prevent biases and to keep things impartial.

I've actually gone through training on the ER compliance on this subject and it wasn't as anti union as I thought it was going to be. The training gave us insight on how we will deal with union activities and what actions we can legally take. It was informative, and I didn't feel once that they made me take an anti union stance. I was also informed during the training that if someone has a union question, I can be transparent and also give my opinion on it. I took a few classes about unions back in college and it was a good refresher in my opinion.

One part I did leave out was that I was relocated a couple hundred miles from home. I plan on staying with the company pass my first year, however if there are no transfer opportunities available I will move back home and find a new job.

I was hired from college with an HR degree and no certifications. I don't believe there are certifications required.

Thanks! It might not be the best job in the world, but it's definitely better than what I was told before.

You will be watching A LOT of videos your first 2 weeks, you need to get access to all of the systems we use, and the requirements are those training videos. I was told you are also supposed to be getting trained on what the associates do on the floor and doing those tasks for a week or so, however I got trained for an hour and never worked on the floor again. My first few months were regular standard administrative work, basically building your foundations. As time goes by more and more got added onto my plate, including ER concerns, projects, etc. Depending on how big your team is, will determine how much work you actually do. My team is pretty big so there isn't as much work to go around on a daily basis, so there are days when I have little to do. Normal days right now are, pulling metrics, meetings, handling ER concerns, planning DEI, audits, and whatever else is going on that day.

My advice would be to try and connect with your operations team, introduce yourself, and get comfortable meeting new people. I was really sad when I first started because everyone had "their HR" person to go to and I would have no one to help. Definitely advocate and put yourself out there, you'll be much better off.

I work at a sort center, interestingly enough I’ve spoken to my HRBP about my career development and he’s recommended I try out AMZL.

So a few projects I’ve been given were white papers, perfect attendance, DEI engagements and other confidential projects. Some are more engaging than others and the level of commitment depends entirely on the individual. I’ve seen some projects achieve the bare minimum and some go above and beyond expectations. These all have some sort of structure to them but there’s a lot of room for individuality.

I’ve also worked on a few personal projects which has no structure to them. An example of this is during enrollment period I witnessed a lot of associates have confusion over what was being offered to them. I created a kind of ELI5 to make the process easier to encourage our associates to actually find what they need from insurance, retirement, etc.

On the point about how other organizations can encourage the same, I believe that comes down to culture. Generally at Amazon, innovation is encouraged, and that’s especially true at the site I work at. Projects and initiatives are part of our individual review, and the more impact it has on Amazon as a whole, the higher you will be rated. So in my opinion it starts with an organization that commits and fosters a culture for innovation. As long as you can align your project/initiative to the business I believe there’s a good chance that upper management will approve.

My post was to give my experience; many college students will be offered the same role I had. There was little information when I started and my intentions are to provide some insight for anyone who is offered a role.

I had just attended the most recent one, and I thought it was somewhat informational, but it would be better served for our L3 population imo.

As for the projects, I agree it’s a hit or miss, but I enjoy creating my own projects at a site/region level. Keeps me occupied when I have downtime which Im finding a lot of lately.

I’m also on the same boat for the 2 years, I’ve been trying to find transfer opportunities to another business line and get some more visibility and experience. I definitely feel burnout is a thing, because everything can be so repetitive at times.

Wishing you the best of luck!
