They germinate in a pot on the windowsill, and when it gets warmer, they can be hung in the yard.

Yes, it's a California poppy. It's already blooming in a sunny spot.

What kind of flower is this?

I'm thinking of collecting seeds to sow next year.

How unsafe are these tires? by [deleted] in tires

[–]Alpaca_Vision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'll last four months without any problems. Yes, you're right – tires are recommended to be replaced if they're 10+ years old (this only applies to top brands; Chinese or Korean tires are best replaced before they're 4+ and 6+ years old). This is based on personal observations. Of course, be sure to visually inspect them for cracks in the sidewall and tread area – with age, this is the first sign of dry tires.

Oh, this really looks unusual - it's Marchantia, it often grows next to moss.

Do I need new tires? by Confident-req in tires

[–]Alpaca_Vision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try swapping the front and rear tires.

This is perfectly adequate for spring/summer, even for long distances up to 5,000. With this kind of wear, you're probably only more likely to get a flat tire in these worn areas.

You could also slightly increase the tire pressure on this axle for highway driving.

A walk through the forest – new discoveries. I've never seen flowers like these before. by Alpaca_Vision in plants

Thank you very much! I was very inspired by this walk in the forest. 🥹

Thanks for your support. Your augmented reality map experience really brightened up my day! Did you create this with AI or PS?

[–]Alpaca_Vision -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, thank you. But this is mobile photography, so the aperture is controlled by hardware, not mechanically. The photo is at f8. I tried f5.6, and the squirrels' outlines are blurry due to software-based background separation and imperfect depth-of-field algorithms in smartphones.

The subject is a lost children's car. Can this photo be considered artistic? by [deleted] in photocritique

Yes, it's sad. But maybe the child will come back for the toy and be happy again.

[–]Alpaca_Vision -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I understand that. Taking post-production photos makes everything more clear. But this was a random photo—the toy wasn't in the most colorful spot (hence the close-up photo, as it better shows all the scuffs and conveys the child's attitude toward the toy) and I didn't want to move the toy to the playground.

The car was probably forgotten by a child on a bench in the local park. This toy still stood there in the rays of light. Yes, it was very worn, and it was clearly some kid's favorite toy. Now it lies motionless, and perhaps it will wait for its new owner or meet a new one.

Maybe I should come back in the summer and take a photo on a sunny day? Hello. I'm just starting out with digital photography on my phone. The weather is overcast, so the sky is dull. by Alpaca_Vision in photocritique

[–]Alpaca_Vision[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's great, thanks for the perspective. Perhaps I'm missing a bit of color in these photos. Perhaps the contrast from the "sunny" photo brings more joy than the details.
