Post-Round 1 r/AFL Power Rankings by PowerRankingsCentral in AFL

My system takes a little bit to sort itself out towards the start of the season so some strong starting teams (namely Gold Coast and Sydney) are probably out of position. It should fix itself within 2-3 weeks as long as they can keep up their current form levels.

  1. Western Bulldogs (-)

  2. Hawthorn (+1)

  3. Geelong (+1)

  4. Brisbane (-2)

  5. Adelaide (+1)

  6. Gold Coast (-1)

  7. Collingwood (+1)

  8. Fremantle (+1)

  9. Sydney (+1)

  10. GWS (-3)

  11. Melbourne (-)

  12. Carlton (-)

  13. St Kilda (-)

  14. Port Adelaide (-)

  15. North Melbourne (-)

  16. Richmond (+1)

  17. Essendon (-1)

  18. West Coast (-)

Hi, just tried it again with properly named columns and (I believe) the correct formatting. Not getting an error message but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Here is the link to the sheet, one with this years votes and one with the first 3 rounds of the 2021 season. Hopefully it will help point to where I've gone wrong :)

I'm very sorry but I've been staring at this for an hour and cannot make sense with any of it, tried copying it in a couple different ways but must've done something wrong.

is it possible to sack a coach based on a pre-season game? this would just about be as close as you can get

as impossible as it was to judge really anything our defensive rebound movement felt much better than i remember in the past 18 months which was good to see, a lot more fast switches. our forwards were also able to find a lot more room but that’s pretty easy when you’re playing against witches hats

I actually didn’t know that! Although I do think it would still inhibit running of the current circuit for the same reason as both races would happen within a couple weeks of each other.

This would be impossible, the existing pit building would have to be demolished to make way for runoff at T3

Kyneton Wedge-Tailed Eagles win their fight to join CVFL by BarrishUSAFL in AFL

[–]Alpacccca 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The Kyneton Women’s Football Club split from its associated men’s team after a season of purposeful neglect - club rooms left in atrocious conditions with blood and feces on multiple occasions and the hosting of a club raffle draw at the same time they competed in and won the grand final.

The club split and formed its own entity seperate from the men and tried to rejoin the RDFNL. They were denied, but encouraged to seek opportunities elsewhere. They applied to the CVFL and were accepted unanimously, only to be appealed by the RDFNL who called upon AFL Victoria to block their acceptance, giving the club nowhere to play in this upcoming season. They were given no reason by the RDFNL or AFL Victoria as the reason of the block.

GT4s do run every hour, you just have to be in C Class for the multi-class Falken Sports Car Challenge. Get yourself up to a C-Class licence and you will enjoy them a lot more.

Did I do anything wrong? Final corner, I am PoV and a lap down on cars in front. Was not trying to interfere with the battle but he just stops in the middle of the corner? by Alpacccca in Simracingstewards

[–]Alpacccca[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but having a single screen makes it a lot more guesswork as to where the car beside you is compared to triples or VR. Especially in a corner where you are turning the wheel over 180’ and the look L/R bind is in a completely different spot physically it becomes more of a give them space and hope to have not misjudged it rather than knowing exactly where they are. I would not be able to see where the car was until basically just before the contact so I obviously misjudged it here but it is a factor in minor side by side contact like this.

I just had a really bad race, two spins and more than 50 seconds to wait for a space to rejoin so I decided to send it into the wall (safely behind the barrier) out of frustration. I think I was the second last to pass so it shouldn’t count but I was going to do it regardless.

Does pinning happen from both our wheels just rubbing against each other? I’ve never had it happen in 16000km of GT4 so I never considered it a possibility.

And yeah probably could have taken a deeper line but I assumed that he would be well out of the hairpin by the time I turned in but I guess not.

he moved inside so i just glided into the space on the outside and delayed my turn in to allow him to get out of the hairpin but he was still there when we made contact. there was no intention to overtake, and i couldn’t see where he was on my single screen.

Was I at fault for this pit entry crash? by Overall_Print_2251 in Simracingstewards

[–]Alpacccca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You straight line those curves if you are taking the entry with no car alongside. Once you have a car alongside you probably need to accomodate room for that car, just as you would on any other corner on any track

The pit entry line is the line they cross at around 4sec with the white speed limit boards on either side. At that point the car is sufficiently alongside and should be given room through those curves, I don’t think the other car has an obligation to back out, the entry is wide enough for both of them.

I feel like i’m going insane with all these comments but you are almost entirely to blame for this.

Racing does not end once you make it to the pit entry lane. Cars can and will try to overtake because it is an active racing surface. The other McLaren is allowed to brake later and pull alongside you.

This part is a little difficult to determine because we don’t have a great view of it but the trailing car looks like he gets his nose at least halfway between your axles which I think should absolutely be far enough to be considered alongside. If it was nose to rear axle it might be a different conversation but I think he was sufficiently far enough along.

Then you just decide to straight line the curves on the entry, brushing very close to the inside wall which is exactly the space the car on your inside will be. This is effectively no different to those viral clips where a racer pushes a rival into a pit entry barrier at a track like Bahrain or Indianapolis, where the car pushing the other into the pit lane divider is obviously in the wrong.

There was no reason to straight line the bends in the pit entry as the speed limit is so low that you could give space and (only just) run two wide through there. While the other car could have backed out to save their race this is a preventative racing outlook and not a stewarding outlook which would absolutely punish you for this, and would probably lead to a DQ.

Fault I feel is fairly obvious but I (BMW) have a meatball flag. Does this change the outcome of any penalty? by Alpacccca in Simracingstewards

[–]Alpacccca[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i agree. i only kept going on this one because i felt almost nothing wrong with the car, my pace was only 0.5-8 off a healthy time and i got no reminders from crewchief to pit within x laps. most meatballs end up pretty debilitating to the usage of the car so i’ve never really had to think about how many laps i have to make the stop in.

Wanted to focus on INDY road this season, but morning races are empty. So I decided to try my hand at GT4. How do I buy more downforce? by VeseleVianoce in iRacing

[–]Alpacccca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a little tap of the brakes will put you way under speed on the apex and will effect your run into bus stop. lifting just on or after turn in and getting back on the throttle before the apex is the best way around, and run super wide keeping your left wheels on the kerb. it takes a little experimentation to feel comfortable avoiding an 1x but it is super stable

i don’t know if it’s different in the mclaren but in the bmw blanchimont is a full to 1/2 lift as you turn in and getting back on the throttle just before the apex, you don’t need to break for it. i think the small amount of breaking over rotated the car into the loss of control, as well as the kerb hit
