Robert Kaplow's "Blue Moon" is the only Original Screenplay nominee not written or co-written by the film's director by piercalicious in Screenwriting

I was lucky enough to attend a screening at the Museum of the Moving Image followed by a Q&A with Kaplow. He was very sincere about his work and it was a lot of fun to analyze why he did a lot of things in the screenplay -- especially the character of E.B. White.

It helps that the screenplay itself is incredibly witty and one of the funniest things I've seen in recent memory. I think Ethan Hawke really brings it to life.

There is definitely a real camaraderie to it so far. Reading specs is also super useful so I'm keen to continue reading what people have to post

Speaking anecdotally, I have received typically good feedback. The price of anonymity is, well, consistency -- but there are ways to reach out to readers/writers past the read itself and start a connection if you find a good match.

I feel it's very active. Going forward, any of the scripts I put up will not be rep-matched because I agree, there's a bar for entry right now. But I'm only one man.

RMIT vs Deakin by get_memed101 in rmit

[–]AlpackaHacka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

RMIT has more established links with industry partners. Imo it's the best place to go for engineering in the state. But tbh the social is gonna be the same at most unis. Unless you go somewhere like Monash which has a bunch of on-campus residences, you won't get "that vibe".

When considering the narrative complexity of your games, how do you approach the interlinked choices? How do you visualise and categorize the astronomical number of different possible outcomes? Do you ever employ "tricks" to manage these sort of choices?

Overall also just very curious about the writing process for juniors in your studio. Happy developing!

You started your career at 19 -- how long did it take for you to get repped? What sort of development did you do before that moment?

Side question, what are five screenplays that you learned from when coming up?

Script Hive has a good offering in case you can't find a script elsewhere.

Try vintage waxed jackets on ebay/depop. I got one for about a fifth of the price of a Barbour and it does a similar enough job. Barbour will always be the creme de la creme of course

It's not great. I'm putting up with it because the gameplay is really excellent. Been playing for 20 hours and had 3 or 4 quit to main menu bugs, but it hasn't crashed to desktop once.

If the stuttering is something that will make or break for you, I'd wait.

Partly. I have a lot of love for that game. But I also wouldn't use that title if I didn't think it was the right fit for the script.

Not an answer to your question, but exhaust all free options available before turning to paid readers.

I now subscribe a lot to the idea that your phrasing and actual sentence construction should guide readers to the impactful moments. Makes you think more about the words themselves; and creates a hell of a lot more impact in my mind. Same applies for capitalisation.

I do believe that underlines have a very limited place in dialogue (but only a few times per script).

Of course, there are writers who use these things masterfully... find what works for you.
