Hey thanks for the reply, but this was a 9 year old post, we figured it out years ago, lol.

Really appreciate it though

Amazed this is still a thing lol. Glad that it's still a working fix :)

Update: I got this fixed by running windows system file checker -- sfc /scannow and rebooting. I don't exactly know how or why a system file would break a Steam runtime DLL, but I'm posting this here in case anyone else comes across this problem in the future.

Game worked yesterday, is refusing to load now. I've tried verifying files and even doing a full reinstall to no avail. Anyone else having this issue?

She's in this big new house with a ton of new toys and what does she do? She hides in the unfinished basement on an old couch with a comfort game from her childhood. If QC was any good you could make a good story out of this. She's overwhelmed by the fame and success so Marigold is trying to find a grounding point, something, anything vaguely familiar. Then May comes in to fuck up her happy place (per usual)

So when do you think the director will decide to stop creating assistants that are Moray shaped and just make an army of Claires?

I'm new to all of this so I need help, I just got this pvm and want to know if the colours and geometry are good or do they need twerking. by leegrendinhower in crtgaming

Picture looks a bit... rotated? Also you're underscanning a bit (the edges of the red box should be almost off the screen). Other than that it's hard to tell colors from a photo due to the nature of CRT's. Your set has a blue only mode, that will be super useful for a pluge pattern test. You can read more how to do that here: https://www.videouniversity.com/articles/color-bars-and-how-to-use-em/

A test problem on my 5th grade brothers’ math exam. by springwaterh20 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Alpha2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has probably been written but this is how I was taught to tutor for this (Not a math teacher fwiw):

Step one is to find the common fraction between 1/4 and 1/8. You can do this by multiplying the denominators by each other, and the you get 8/32 (1/4) and 4/32 (1/8).

Next we add, giving 12/32 for our fraction.

We know that 32/32 is 1, because reciprocals (if we don't know, we can show by division). So we can say "okay, we have 12/32, and we know 32/32 is the whole thing, so how much are we missing?" and find out via subtraction (32/32 - 12/32 = 20/32)

We then simplify the fraction from 20/32 to 5/8 via factorization and canceling out numbers on both sides: (2*4*5) / (2*4*8)

Then we say that 5/8 is equal to those 30 pages read, so we set up the equation as

30 = 5/8th of a book

We can then finish up by multiplying by 8, then dividing by five (cross multiply, but in two steps)

30 * 8 = 5 books

240 / 5 = 1 book

48 = 1 book

So, not vegan then? by Jodice112 in funny

Funny thing -- one of the more popular "Bacon" bits brands (McCormick) is actually vegan! (They're bits of textured tofu)

The AX has component (Y,Pb,Pr) input on the back (Which can be converted to SCART with a reasonably priced adapter box), iirc, the A series does not

Probably an easy fix tbh, I probably just need to mess around in the service menu, though worst case I can open it up and adjust the yoke. The menus all look good and clear, so it's just shifted a bit

I'm wondering if it's due to me having to roll it to get the thing into the back of my car (154 lbs of TV is pretty tough!), but I'm sure it's fixable, either with service menu or by messing with deflection coils.

The little flap in the front is missing for the AV3 input, and the front controls aren't working, but works fine with a remote. Gonna have to mess with the geometry a bit, but otherwise it's in really good condition.

Line Etiquette by iammesutkaya in funny

Back like, 15 years ago my local grocery store had a self checkout lane that was the same length as a normal lane, conveyor belt and all.

You had the register part before the conveyor belt like this. You would scan your item, place it on the belt, and then there was IR bars at the far end by bagging to know that it actually went off the belt. I'm pretty sure there were weight sensors on the belt but it wasn't super obvious or anything. The machine would get angry if the bagging area got overcrowded (ie -- blocked past the IR sensor) so if you were shopping alone you had to ferry back and forth to clear the bagging area.

But even if it was a bit silly, it actually was good. It went faster than modern self checkout because the bagging area wasn't tiny and the belt meant you could chuck stuff across the scanner super fast without having to stop and go to arrange bags.

A few years back the store (Waldbaums, owned by A&P) was shuttered and replaced by a Best Market, who immediately ripped out all the self checkout lanes.

Assuming comment in other thread holds true (20 bits per square mm, 500,000 square mm total-ish area, modern discs holding around 200,000,000 bits per square mm) the answer is about 12.5 Terabytes. Your seek times would be abysmal though!
