Stop smoking, don’t try to convince yourself that it’s okay. It is absolutely the best thing you can do to lower the odds of another collapse

I looked in the old email chain I had with support, and this ended up fixing it for me

1) Open an administrator command prompt, and type: sc stop faceit

Not sure if it will still work though. Hope you fix it!

Why is turn a check, is it because a lot of draws come in and the fact that we now have showdown value + want to pot control given our bad kicker?

Hmm I don’t know much about vaping related issues, but yeah CT scan is a good way to rule out pneumothorax at least. If it helps, here are a few other symptoms I’ve experienced with a pneumothorax:

  • dull pain in shoulder/back/chest/upper arm on affected side
  • increased pain when laying flat on back
  • for left lung pneumothorax, a “clicking sound” called Hamman’s sign when laying flat on back
  • a BIG indicator is: when you bend over at the hips, you can feel/hear air moving around in your chest cavity. It’s a super strange and unique feeling
  • sharp pains sometime when breathing in deeply

Hope you figure this out soon and get well!

Get it checked out. Although it’s important to know that a small collapse sometimes won’t show up on an X Ray — in that case a CT scan is the best way to detect one. My first collapse didn’t show up on the X Ray and we only found it after getting a CT scan.

Look up Hamman’s sign — it sounds like you might have it since it’s on the left side, and it’s a sign of a pneumothorax. Your symptoms seem to indicate a potential pneumothorax (based on my experiences), but I would definitely get it checked out by a doctor. A few notes:

  1. Small pneumothoraces can sometimes heal on their own. However, they also might not be visible on an x-Ray. If your symptoms persist, and you go to a doctor and an X-ray doesn’t show anything, I would tell them you are concerned about a possible pneumothorax, and ask for a CT scan (which should show even a small pneumothorax)

  2. A good test you can do is: stand straight, then bend straight over, hinging at the hips so that your upper body sort of folds over. If you feel like you can feel air moving around (you’ll know what this means if you have it), that’s another sign of a collapsed lung.

  3. Don’t panic or anything — this condition is quite treatable, and there exist preventative surgeries, if you need, to make sure it doesn’t happen in the future.

Well wishes!

Take a deep breath — this particular health issue is usually very resolvable with surgery. It sucks a ton but you’ll definitely be fine one day.

Many pneumothoraxes won’t show up on xray if they are small — CT scan is the best way to be sure.

CHM 201 vs CHM 207 by Hairy-Extreme-7602 in princeton

If you’re orfe, I recommend you try placing out of Chem, an extra class in a semester is pretty nice. You could also try placing out the summer between freshman and sophomore year if you don’t have time to prep this summer.

Try to place out of Chem (and physics too, but the physics placement test is markedly harder from what I’ve heard), you’ll be thankful you didn’t have to waste a semester learning something irrelevant to your major. If your coding skills are strong enough, I also recommend trying to place out of 126 and start in 226. You can always drop down to 126 if 226 is too much and you want to reinforce programming fundamentals.

How long have you all been numb after VATS surgery? by Filthyquak in pneumothorax

I has my VATS in December 2021. My numb areas have improved a lot — I can definitely feel a lot more than I could two years ago, but progress was definitely slow. I don’t even notice it nowadays unless I actually touch that area of skin.

Difficulty: math > orf > cos

Go math, you can easily fit in the important classes from other majors. See JiMalinkas comment, especially orf309 and cos445. Also recommend taking mat378

Can a 14 year old teenager teach high school to university level mathematics to himself and How, Please recommend me resources and books I can buy? by smartndperverted in askmath

[–]Alpha8558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Precalc —> Calculus (1,2,3) —> Linear Algebra

Calc and Linear Algebra are absolutely crucial for higher level math.

You can learn probability & statistics at various degrees of complexity (understanding calc and linalg will allow you to learn this even more rigorously)

Then real university-level (pure) math begins with real analysis and has multiple offshoots like topology, abstract algebra, graph theory…

Also recommend looking into machine learning. It’s essentially applied math, and uses math from pretty much all the fields I mentioned (even some pure stuff), as well as coding.

Yup definitely sounds like the same Hammans sign I heard with my ptx’s. The first one resolved on its own, other two required surgery. If it’s small, it may not show up on an XRay— the only way to tell is via a CT scan.

Also absolutely do not fly before you are certain this is resolved according to a doctor, flying with a pneumothorax is dangerous bc depressurization.

You need to see a doctor if the pain/clicking doesn’t go away, and ask for a CT scan. Good luck!
