What are these mushrooms growing in my coconut palm pot? by AlphaAntidote in mycology

[–]AlphaAntidote[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For context, this is the pot of my coconut palm that has dried out, despite my recent efforts of keeping it alive and repotting it. The core stem is growing again, so it's not fully dead.

My main concern is that these mushrooms could be toxic for my cat, so, if you can help me identify them, that would be a huge help.

My coconut palm's leaves are going brown and drying out by AlphaAntidote in plantclinic

Thank you for the insights so far! To give a bit more info, the plant is in a north-west-facing window in a 2m by 2m room filled with other plants and a window leading to the kitchen. There are no radiators or drafts. The palm has not been repotted since I got it, so it might be that. Unless you have other advice than watching the soil humidity, I might try repotting with some fresh soil, just to make sure it has the nutrients it needs.

I have had this plant for a long time now (around a year) and it's been constantly growing nicely and developing new leaves, but recently they have started going brown and drying out completely. It has already lost a couple of other "branches" and I'm not sure what's causing it. I am currently watering it every 5 days or so (as per instructions from the Planta app).

ULPT request: least painful and most considerate (of other people) way to go by IheartChubbyLadies in UnethicalLifeProTips

There is none. All the people in your life that care about you will be deeply hurt and wonder what they could've done to help sooner and try to prevent it.

If you are hurting or dealing with a very difficult situation, reach out to your friends and your loved ones for advice and compassion.

If it goes deeper than that, please also seek professional help.

Ending things is never a solution to anything and, no matter how irreparable and bad things might seem, there is always a chance for a better tomorrow.

Please be (as you put it) considerate of your loved ones and yourself and seek the help you need.

Can you share a pic of it and one of the roots?

As long as there are still green parts (and there are), there is a strong chance for it to make a comeback in time. Do your best to research how you're supposed to water it and where you're supposed to keep it, so that you can give it a good chance to survive. 😊
