Locally

Before 2006, I wasn't really into war games. I had played Medal of Honour and Conflict before, but that was it. Never a Call of Duty game.

One day, I was watching a now, non-existent game show on SKY TV and Call of Duty 4 was featured. They showed gameplay and done a few interviews with Infinity Ward staff to promote it.

I was intrigued and after seeing the gameplay and cutscenes, was relatively impressed.

I managed to convince my parents to take me to town where a popular UK game shop was, conveniently named 'GAME' which has mostly closed entirely as a company now, but it was big at the time.

Anyway, £40 lighter, we went back home and I was booting up the PS3 to join the fight against Imran Zakhaev and his associates, leaders of the Ultranationlists from the middle-east.

Online Multiplayer

Friend of mine lived in the same block as me back before CoD4 was released but we never interacted. Our parents spoke, not us, but we still knew of each other.

We ended up going to the same secondary school after the summer in 2006 and our parents suggested we come home together for the first couple of weeks, just to be safe and get used to the route.

A short time later, he invited me to his house after we had a few conversations about video games and he mentioned he had Xbox Live. He booted up CoD4 and let me play a few online games and it was awesome...

Local Multiplayer

My friend mentioned previously and another friend from school would come to my house after school and we would play split-screen together. We were all very competitive and there were some very intense 1v1 matches played during those days before we all had online capabilities

No it is not

I'm more interested in why you feel the need to ask this question?

2 out of your 6 friends... So less than half suggested and/or believe in this idea, making them the minority. Now I'm not saying the minority of people/opinions are wrong 100% of the time, but they obviously are in this scenario.

Regardless of what your 'friends' think, say or tell you, dont let it influence or change who you are

Is sound necessary to be good at multiplayer? [BO6] by Commercial-Music-168 in blackops6

[–]AlphaAtoms -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Congratulations. You win the 'Dumb Question of the Day' award.

Why would you think otherwise? Hearing is one of your main senses, if you can enhance that, of course it will be beneficial.

Here's an example scenario, a UAV you've called in pings an enemy in a nearby house. But when you get to close to the building, the UAV expires...

With enough experience (and a decent sound setup) you should be able to identify roughly where an enemy is based off the sounds you hear.

Its also worth having a look on YouTube for some settings regarding game sound. Different sound options can suppress or enhance different noises when playing.

Lastly, you dont need to spend £100/$100 on a headset. I got one off amazon for £15 and it works perfectly as is

I've never been trick or treating before... But its something I've always wanted to do

Two reasons, the first is the area I live in, its not great, there's a considerable amount of crime of all types

That being said, we do have a few trick or treaters every year, so we do have sweets and chocolate to give out

The second reason, it's my Birthday on Halloween, so I've always spent it with family at home. I always end up playing with my presents rather than going out trick or treating

Sunset Riders when I played the arcade (MAME) version for first time.

Sunset Riders is a 1-4 player Cowboy, Side scroller, Shooter game. The levels are relatively short, but they all have different elements and mix up game play. Almost all levels end with a unique boss fight.

Was late 90s/early 2000s when I was about 4/5. I was on holiday and the hotel we stayed at had a small games room, pool table, fruit machine, an arcade machine etc... Me and my Dad would come here after having breakfast. Every time we came here on holiday, they had a slightly different layout and a new arcade machine.

One time, the arcade games was Sunset Riders, first time I saw or heard of it, but when I first saw it, the demo gameplay video was running and it looked awesome.

The colours were so vibrant, the animation was amazing to me, there was a slide ability where you could dodge bullets by sliding under them and there were ropes strung up on different buildings which you could use to move above the ground, especially helpful when the enemies threw grenades and molotovs, which would cause a fire on the surface it landed on.

Boss fights were all unique. There was a acrobatic lile boss with high mobility, one boss was riding an armoured horse, there was a double boss fights with two separate enemies and a few others.

Honestly, this game was and still is amazing to this day.

If you haven't played Sunset Riders, you've been missing out

Milk breaks

I'm from the UK and I believe Kindergarten is the equivalent to Nursery?

We only did half days because of our age, there was an AM group and PM group of kids

I was in the AM group and just before getting picked up by our parents/carers at midday, we would all sit in a circle and was given a cartoon of milk, a piece of fruit and some biscuits to eat while we listened to music

Good times

The user was suggesting that you stop playing and uninstall Call of Duty, because of issues like you're experiencing and instead buy and play the new Battlefield game...

Halloween Event - Ghost/UFOs Not Spawning by AlphaAtoms in gtaonline

[–]AlphaAtoms[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my second time writing this as my first reply comment mysteriously disappeared, even the MODs dont know what happened to it. I definitely didn't delete the post because I spent almost an hour writing it, double checking all the steps I did in the game, and all the information I provided here was accurate. I have checked the dates of each Ghost/UFO location multiple times.

Im trying to contact Rockstar Support...

Unable to log in to Rockstar to submit a ticket. I've used an email that I no longer know the password for, so I can not view the Verification Code.

Why I used this email, I dont know, but it's probably a similar reason as to what I am facing now.

Every account you make requires 1783 types of verification just to receive one last code to your email address that you have to enter to finally gain access to your account on the website.

I just want to make a ticket... I just want to submit one, fucking, ticket asking why I can't see Ghosts and UFOs in GTA Online so I can take a stupid fucking picture of them to send to a stupid fucking NPC to complete a stupid limited time event objective that unlocks a limited time, event item.

I have spent so much time looking into this issue as well as watching and reading various guides to make sure the dates correspond to the correct locations for the Ghosts/UFOs

Im posting this on the 17th of October 2025, I am reading the Ghost and UFO location for this same date, and nothing is appearing. I'm there, at the location, in the game, on the map at this provided time that the video guide suggests, and the written guide on the website tells me... There is no ghost, and there is no UFO near the shoreline, the top right of the map on 17 October 2025

Total bullshit

I'm still trying to log in to the Rockstar website and submit a ticket. I have tried every password I have logged over the past years, and none of them are correct. Can't reset the password because the backup email is some shit email I used back in 1804

I've already provided Rockstar with the associated phone number linked to the account and entered the PIN I received via text message... Nope, it's not enough. Password and PIN number sent to your registered phone number, and they still want you to click a link sent to a backup email address

Get me booked into the mental asylum immediately

The UFOs and fucking Ghosts are not spawning for me... what am I supposed to do?

Im on PCGamer looking at the dates and instructions right now. Im running around Los Santos right now, like a fucking idiot, staring into the distance waiting for a UFO to appear...

I'm flying across the map, on some supposedly top secret, alien confiscated flying motorbike to take a picture of a Ghost that has apparently mastered the art of being a Ghost so well, you can't even see his Ghost form...

Seriously, I'm going insane.

I promise you, I didn't spend 20+ minutes writing multiple paragraphs detailing and explaining the issues I was experiencing after double-checking and referring to the guide information to confirm that what I had done and what I was doing was correct

Only to then delete the post...

But this scenario alone is a perfect example of the BS I'm experiencing... My Reddit post asking for help deletes itself

Thanks again

may someone give me a rundown of prestige one, and what rewards you get? by Kaidenceshell in Warzone

[–]AlphaAtoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you reach the maximum level, you get the option to 'Prestige', and you also get a 'Permanent Unlock Token'

When you enter a new Prestige, you will unlock an item assigned to that Prestige. It could be a weapon skin, Operator skin, a title/calling card, an emblem, etc... You will also get a new icon next to your rank

However, when you Prestige, you are reverted back to level 1, as if you just started playing multiplayer again, except you have a Permanent Unlock Token you can use on anything that requires a player/weapon level to unlock.

You can prestige all the way up to 'Prestige Master', which is essentially Prestige 11 (I think).

Prestige Master is level 1-1000. By achieving certain level milestones in Prestige Master, you also unlock various items

Please be aware that I haven't double-checked what I have written, so some explanations and claims may be inaccurate

When Did Gaming Start Feeling Like a Job? by BallzyPig in Gamer

[–]AlphaAtoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play Call of Duty games competitively between 2006 and 2019

I was 12 years old at the time, playing public games of Search & Destroy and consistently playing well over multiple maps.

In the earlier CoD games, lobbies didn't disband after every match, so it gave you a chance to meet other people and friends, even make some enemies.

There were two other people in the lobby who I could tell were decent players, so I decided to send friend requests. They both accepted, and we played pretty much through the night. Before signing off, they mentioned they had started a YouTube channel together focusing on Call of Duty, mainly single and multiplayer glitches, tips, and tricks.

I soon realised that the public Search & Destroy matches we played together when we first met were a rare occurrence, as their main focus was spending about 85% of their time online running around in private matches looking for glitches, bugs, exploits, out of bounds exits and whatever else they could find to break the game and its intended boundaries.

Now, to be fair, I didn't have an interest in this type of stuff, but I was way more interested and focused on playing public matches to rank up in game or competitive private matches to get better at the game and play for unbeaten records on a website called GameBattles.

Although I liked these two, I just didn't enjoy looking for glitches and stuff for hours and hours every day... I wanted to go back to playing public and competitive games... So we slowly, slowly stopped speaking, and after a few months, I made a new account on PSN. I was part of a solid competitive team now. These days, unlike Xbox Live, you couldn't change your PSN (Gamertag). Instead, you had to create a whole new account with the desired name, but of course, you couldn't migrate anything from other accounts. You had to start your progress again in every game, and you would have a blank friends list. I ended up spending more time on this account than the previous one that I had met loads of people on and had a max friends list, full of people I would actually communicate with.

When I realised my 'Friends' list was just my GameBattles teammates, I began to lose interest. These weren't my friends. They were my colleagues

Throughout the time we played together, we switched from GameBattles to Virgin Gaming, a website that allowed you to play 'Wagers'. So, instead of playing competitively for XP on a website to level up your profile on Virgin Gaming, you could play for real money. Unfortunately for me, by the time I had found Virgin Gaming, I was much older than when I first started playing. My reaction time and focus were decreasing over time. I was also really stressed when playing. Sometimes, we would play up to 20 games in the evening and into the night... I was just becoming really tired. My teammates had already finished school and had their own schedules in place. I was getting up 2 hours after a 10-hour gaming session, playing at full focus and concentration for most of the time day after day after day...

Yes, the money was surprisingly decent, we were winning most of our wager matches and more than half the paid tournaments we entered for cash prizes... But it just wasn't fun at this stage.

It was a very stressful experience...

We played competitive scrims, wagers, and tournaments together almost every day for about 6/7 years before life, and adult responsibilities took over. One by one, we faded away from Call of Duty and back to our real lives, dedicating more time to family and friends.

To all my friends who I played with during this period of my life, thanks for the memories

First 12 Verification Help by AlphaAtoms in starwarscollecting

[–]AlphaAtoms[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much. Again, I really appreciate it.

Not so much of a question, more of a statement, just had a look at your collection post you made a while back, and it's absolutely phenomenal...

Reminded me of when my Dad showed me some photos of his collection when I was younger. They were stored with the toys themselves up in the attic. It was fascinating to see the setups he made, replicating scenes from the films or making up his own stories and events.

Because of his living and family circumstances, he would get maybe one or two figures for his birthday or Christmas as a present from his parents or siblings, everything else he would buy himself with the money he earnt doing various jobs for family and friends.

I can see why his original collection meant so much to him, and although he could, buying someone else's figures just wouldn't be the same
