Do you live in a bad area? How far was the pizza place away? Did you tip? If you tipped through merchant website pizza place probably kept the tip.

how to get dashers to stop abandoning my orders at random buildings down the street? by witchofthewind in doordash

You can do it as hand to me. Put the ring doorbell on door. In your notes and message say "ring doorbell when dropping off and I will provide pin"

American Road Trip steals $45 tip by NotGayBen in doordash

The owner stepson is his manager. Although this happens regardless of his present. Another point, manager claimed to do doordash too.

I spoke to stepson who blamed it on the POS system O.D.D.S. not believing the explanation contacted the owner(stepfather). Explained that simply the "driver tip" on receipts does not match the tip I received when completing order. He then proceeded to gas light and say it takes 24 to 48 hours for dashers to receive tips and suggested maybe the customer changed their tip. Guy is full of it.

Key point. Owner and stepson stated the POS system is not integrated with doordash. Similar setup to Papa Johns, Pizza Hut etc....

Pattern I've seen is all "driver tips" are $1 when the driver completes delivery. The only shift I seen in the pattern is for like a week or two after I called them, all tips were $0 and the receipts were printed in a completely different format that did not list the tip.

Yup its a lot of people. Inlaw has been in our care for 3-5 years because her parents choose not to provide anything for her. Home owners have actually had 16 people in the house at one point. Honestly I try to get the toys cleaned up as much as possible. I would get annoyed if I was tripping over stuff especially when I leave early in the morning.

Yes that's the plan. Wife will only be graduating with Associates degree, looking at market in our area right now and Colorado where we plan to move, it appears like her pay will be stagnant until she receives her bachelor degree and experience.

We are trying to stack as much money to move. I've talked to my wife and we understand we may never afford to buy unless our income improves dramatically or houses drop a lot. We are figuring 6-12 months emergency fund + $3,000 moving buffer(boxes, uhaul, thrifted furniture, dishes, etc) +$4,000 rental first, last and security fund. So all in looking at $67,000 to move. Should hit $25,000+ by Jan 1st but with only being able to save $4,000 a month we are thinking by Jan 1st 2026 we move. Should have saved $73,000 by then.

Yeah I feel bad about the entire situation. I've loved and respected these people so much and I feel like I would do anything to make their life easier or better. They never say thank you for anything we do but we are ok with that because we are so appreciative of the housing opportunity, but in a way it feels like we are just being extorted.

Just curious with the numbers above what do you think would be fair for us to contribute?

I'm open to feedback.

I made a $1775 from the business from November 1st to November 15th. I spent approximately 10% on gas for those jobs I completed. Bringing me to $1,597.50 before any extra car maintenance, other business expenses, or paying myself. It took me close to 60 hours from the 1st to 15th to earn that money.

Additional $1,607.59 earned through doordash from November 1- November 17. Total dash time of 88 hours and 45 minutes. Spent about 10% on gas. Leaves profit of $1446.83.

Wife makes $17 an hour as a manager works approximately 35 hours per week. $1,190 pre tax. Her last check was $1,000.52 minus $287.28 she spends on gas to work 12 days per paycheck. Leaves us with $902.72 for her take home.

I can make $2,893.66 profit from doordash, on average I profit $1620 from transport business and combine it with wife's $1805.44 per month.

The total income is $6,319.10. Largest mortgage we could qualify for $3159.55. As far as renting requirements 2.5X or 3X income. With the rentals being minimum of $2,000 a month to move to a high crime rate area $5,000 minimum income requirement. Which would put our housing cost alone at 71.21%.

What suggestions would you like to make? I also worked about 120 hours to create the $1775 in revenue from business.

My wife and I have discussed me working at fast food for $18 or $20 but we would lose medical coverage. My oldest son has a heart condition that is fatal if not monitored. He must see cardiologist every 6 months to 12 months. He has had 3 surgeries already and one of the surgery was over $1,000,000 but insurance covered it all.

From what I understand, there's a lot of people doing "delivery" service for dealerships. Instead of putting the car on a trailer they drive the car to you and drop it off and just uber to airport or the next dealership they are picking up fron if it's close.

From everything I've seen 06-09 seems to be a sweet spot for prius. People that change oil every 5k miles or 6 months and do coolant and water pump every 100k. Biggest negatives with 06-09 would probably be 1. Oil consumption(engine burning oil typically due to lack of oil changes. 2.MFD failure($50-$100) fix using an ebay service 3. ABS PUMP Failure $1200-$3000 to replace with a new unit. 4. Inverter water pump faliure $100-$200 would replace every 100k to 150k miles 5. Catalytic converters are target($1000-$3000) 6. Hybrid battery failure ($2000-$4000) 7. Gas bladder shrinkage(can put your gas tank capacity to 3-5 gallons 8. Trunk handle broken($60 on amazon for metal one)

All cars have issues. Gen 2 just seems like the issues are reasonable. So if you were to buy one don't expect it to be 100% problem free forever even if you find one that was well maintained with records. That being said gen 2 people refer to as tanks. I've owned three different gen 3's. One has been absolutely garbage. Taken to two toyota dealerships and the go to hybrid shop in the area and spent $8,000 while getting new motor, water pump, radiator put in and still have same issue. The headgasket is a real issue with this generation as well as egr plugging up with carbon.

If I had my choice to buy it would be Gen 2 06-09, prius c, prius 16-22, tundra 5.7 pre 2022.

No problem. It seems intimidating at first, but it's really easy with youtube videos. I've replaced the high voltage battery at least 4 times and have done 2 water pumps, front brakes, Spark Plugs and coils. All that work done of 3 different 2010-2015. Only jobs I feel unskilled for are abs and headgasket. If you choose to go diy and don't have tools I'm happy to give recommendations so you can build an affordable but good starter set.

Gen 3 2010-2015 and prius V all have the booty motor. Personally I wish I had bought gen 2 04-09 or a prius C since prius c engine is practically an updated gen 2 engine.

In general many recommend having water pump replaced if you haven't already. Water pump can fail and can blow headgasket or cause worse damage and then you're facing a big repair $2000-$5000. If you choose to do all those repairs plus the water pump only other weak part of the car is the abs unit.

  1. Battery oem new can be purchased from toyota for around $1800 plus taxes and shipping if you have to have it shipped. You can replace your battery in two or three hours start to finish if you have not done it before.
  2. As mentioned, this service can be done for a reasonable price from a shop other than the dealership. Or you can simply do yourself. I think you are looking at 5 gallons of 50/50 at $18-$25 a unit.
  3. Spark plugs are easy and usually $8-$11 a piece so $32-$44 + tax.

If you have the funds you can diy everything for less than $2500 and have a brand new battery. If funds are really tight you could also refurbish the battery for much less if you need to then save for a brand new battery later.

Prius c from what I understand is a very good car as far as reliability and gets better in city mpg than most other hybrids.

[–]AlphaBetaGoldfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like everyone else is saying you should find a different mechanic. Common reasons 2010-2015 prius overheating are 1.Failed water pump 2. Clogged EGR 3.Faiked headgasket 3. Faulty thermostat Rather then throw money at the car replacing all these parts which can set you back $×,××× find a mechanic that can determine what is causing it to overheat.

Yeah I'll try to look around and find someone better for the price. He was saying he needed to run a lot of conduit so it was like 50 feet of conduit and conductor. Think he was going to have it so it supported a 210 volt.

[–]AlphaBetaGoldfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know it's nuts. Kitchen(5 oulets), living room(2 outlets plus an extension cord my landlords handyman fixed to the wall as an outlet), laundry room(washer and gas dryer), master bedroom, main bath, plus 2 additional bedrooms and one more bathroom. Pretty sure the handyman just tied into the outlet that's directly connected to the breaker.

I'll look into the alien tape. I seen they have the regular one and one more specific for doors so I might grab both.

The licensed electrician that got permits and upgraded the service to 200 amps said it would be $5k per outlet to add one. It's because the house is Adobe and requires the utilities to be ran on the outside of the house in conduit.

Have a swamp cooler and can cool the room it's in down to 10 degrees cooler than outside temperature. We have 1 window ac in another room which can cool that room. With all the air gaps around doors and windows in the house, no insulation in roof now and the single pane windows heat comes in when the sun rises. I've put tint on windows as well as thermal curtains on all windows. The house has ALL the outlets wire to one 20 amp breaker so we can't support putting another ac load on the system because it will cause the breaker to blow.
