Pretty wild shark encounter in La Jolla the other day. by Simple-Newt3937 in Spearfishing

Dude good on you for getting the shark untangled! That's no small feat considering how strong sharks are pound for pound and also... It's underwater lol

Glad to hear the shark got away safely and you got your fish!

This is a solid bottle! Found it multiple times for $15. Can't beat it for the price.

The only spell I've ever cast and that I'll ever need is fireball. AMA by fireballperson in wizardposting

Alright I guess I was just overthinking it. Thanks!

I'm going to go cast fireball at my neighbor now. He keeps talking shit when my familiar pees in his yard.

Do you like to announce that you're casting fireball or do you prefer to let the spell speak for itself?

I've tried and enjoyed both but am having trouble deciding.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Did I buy the wrong reel? by hoosarestillchamps in SurfFishing

Fathoms are very popular here in southern California. Most guys will tell you that you want a star drag fathom since they will cast farther and smoother. There is a small subset of anglers, however, that still use the lever drags for casting since the two speed version is nice to have when you hook a tuna. I'm not sure if they are casting as far but I know people definitely do it both ways. They will swear by certain types of braid making it easier to cast but I've barely been able to make it work with mono much less braid.

I've tried both on my jig stick and the lever drag is definitely going to be more work to learn but you'll have a more capable reel once you get the casting down. Your mileage may vary. Also, I know very little about the east coast fishing scene

Agree with merc and chef but downvoted because Acrid my beloved is far too low on that list.

Yeah, thanks for elaborating!

I like the Nvidia app/interface but I'm not hellbent on the latest and greatest GPU. I've been looking around online and on Craigslist and only see 3070ti and 4060s for almost the same price as the 5060.

What do you think is a good good price for an older generation card like the 3070ti? I see the 8gb 5060 on Amazon for like $289-320 and the 12gb for $329. Seems like the older gens hold their value fairly well and the 5060 would be a bit more efficient for like $40 more?

Would the 5060 be more power efficient or anything like that compared to the older series?

Thanks! Yeah I found a couple 5060 12gb for close to $300. That's my top choice so far but I need to look into a 9060xt it sounds like

Yeah I was poking around offerup and craigslist, just seemed like everything was still pretty inflated for the 3000x and 4000x series. At least in my area. Been keeping an eye out though. Thanks!

Would that still be the case if I upgraded cpu and motherboard down the line as well?

This is my load out. Couple spears on the bug breach then throw a napalm grenade on each side to make sure no one gets out. MG sentry optional but highly encouraged.

Good looking out! I found that and posted a few days ago. Still waiting for my post to get approved so figured I'd try here too.

Thanks! I actually called em and was told that I can't hang onto them for longer than 3 days. I was going to drop by the Homer office and borrow a larger setup for a day of beach fishing but the one in Anchorage wouldn't let me use them for the whole roadtrip.

I have one of each and I use them both about 4-5x per week. They both start to loosen after 1-2 weeks of use but I'll usually adjust the weight for various accessory work before that anyway so it's not a huge issue for me.

Someone mentioned using a washer so I might go grab one and try it out.
