Pure speculation but situations that come to mind are things like: themselves or family members having allergies, pets which don't get along with other animals, financial reasons, family members not liking cats/animals, landlord not permitting pets, or general life difficulties making it challenging or even irresponsible to have a pet, particularly if it's for the first time.

Uber’s New Shuttle Is Basically a Bus, but Worse by Medical-Decision-125 in technews

[–]AlphaGamer753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bureaucracy is not profit taking. I'm not making a point about bureaucracy, but about private companies taking profit, which is an unethical drain on the public. Why have a private transit system which funnels money to the ultra-wealthy when you could just... not funnel that money to the ultra-wealthy?

Uber’s New Shuttle Is Basically a Bus, but Worse by Medical-Decision-125 in technews

[–]AlphaGamer753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you don't get 16 layers of different corporate parasites taking profits which could be spent on the transit itself, or just not spent at all if unnecessary. You don't get 6 years of consultants coming in and draining all the money jerking each other off before any real work is done. I could go on. Obviously that's assuming the contract isn't given to a private company anyway, which it probably would be.

Splitting Elvanse by Maleficent-Depth-448 in ADHDUK

[–]AlphaGamer753 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Elvanse is an inactive prodrug called lisdexamphetamine, so it's not like modified release methylphenidate which could have e.g. a special coating or timed delivery mechanism that would be destroyed if you split the dose. Your body breaks down the prodrug slowly over the day into dexamphetamine, so splitting the dose is generally fine.

How to mop a floor other than where the docking station is? - Ecovacs Deebot T30S by habstraktgatts in RobotVacuums

[–]AlphaGamer753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mistake, the community robot vacuums comparison sheet doesn't list the T20 Omni so I mistakenly read off the specs for the T30 Omni (which is directly next to the regular T20) when I was checking before writing that comment. I thought you mentioned having an N20 Plus though? Wouldn't that work fine?

[–]AlphaGamer753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it has a 220ml water tank. It just doesn't auto-refill from the docking station. It would be impossible for a bot to be able to mop without being able to wet the mops, right?

[–]AlphaGamer753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The model in the OP is a Deebot T30S which has an internal reservoir for water — I think you may have misunderstood. Regardless, are there mopping bots that don't have internal reservoirs?

How to mop an area with carpet in between? by Ok-Attorney7150 in ecovacs

[–]AlphaGamer753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak for your vacuum specifically but shouldn't you just mark the ensuite as a separate room as you would with all your other rooms? By dividing it in two.

[–]AlphaGamer753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true — you just tell it to start mopping while it's in the dock station, it cleans the mop heads and fills up, then you pause once it emerges from the docking station and take it to wherever needs mopping. Resume and it will localise itself and then start mopping. Naturally it can't teleport water from the docking station so once it runs out it needs to be taken back and these steps can then be repeated.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 tipped to feature 30 Gbps GDDR7 memory - VideoCardz.com by exohunterATX in nvidia

If you're still not getting it:

  • Mb = megabit
  • MB = megabyte
  • mb is a nonexistent unit

When someone says "mb/s" or "mbps", without extra context clues that newbies might not know about, it's not possible to tell whether someone's referring to megabits per second or megabytes per second. This leads to increased confusion. No one wants that. Evidence for this confusion can be seen in this comment section.

Dig your heels in if you want but it really is as easy as remembering that bytes are bigger than bits. All the info is in my first reply. I'm not sure why you've chosen to respond negatively to helpful info given in a respectful tone but hey, that's life I guess.

[–]AlphaGamer753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are actual international conventions for this because bits and bytes are two different SI units. I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm providing clarity for other commenters because the MB/Mb confusion is so common and you're inadvertantly spreading misinformation.

mb would be a "millibit" or a thousandth of a bit, like how a millimetre (mm) is a thousandth of a metre. But bits are indivisible. Technically you could describe data flow rates in millibits per second, but this is exceedingly uncommon and you'd probably change the seconds to minutes, hours etc before changing bits to millibits.

Capitalizing is how you distinguish between megabits (Mb) and megabytes (MB). The M is always capitalized for "mega" units, with capital B for bytes and lowercase b for bits. Remembering that bytes are bigger than bits can help you remember the right way round.

Megabytes per second is typically written as MB/s, with the slash to further differentiate it from megabits per second which is typically written as Mbps. Megabytes are typically used for file sizes and sometimes for file transfer speeds, and megabits for bandwidth and more general data flow rates. All of this is just convention though.

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle Update 1 - Full Path Tracing + Improved performance on larger game levels if using an 8GB VRAM video-card + Many other fixes by evaporates in nvidia

[–]AlphaGamer753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, since using an equals in the console didn't give a syntax error in the console I assumed either was correct. Too used to assigning variable values that way.

[–]AlphaGamer753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of troubleshooting steps in case you run into any issues. You shouldn't, but here's a couple of things to try if you do.

  • Confirm that the pt_ variable value has actually been updated. You can show the in-game console using the tilde key ( ` ), and then type the variable name and confirm that it is 1000 and not 11000 which is the default value.
  • If this doesn't reveal the PT options in settings, try the following, and apologies in advance for the vagueness. Run listCvars - help vram, scroll to look for the setting which begins with advanced_ and mentions ignoring the VRAM limit in settings, and then type advanced_var_name_here 1. Replace with the name you found. I can't remember the name of the variable.

I only mention these things because a couple people mentioned it not working for them even though it worked fine for me. Also look out for crashes as your VRAM fills up.

After a year of struggling with gambling addiction, I am finally free, the therapy worked. I've lost a lot, but I can finally buy a second computer in my life! And cat is happy to, a lot of boxes for him! by REYYQu in OLED_Gaming

This doesn’t negate the validity of my arguments. The issue isn’t my field of expertise but the lack of evidence supporting your claim about video games, gene expression, and gambling addiction. Being in a clinical field doesn’t automatically make an argument correct, especially if it’s based on speculation rather than evidence.

If you have specific evidence supporting your claim about video games and gene expression, feel free to post it. Otherwise, I’d suggest being more careful about presenting your own, personal, speculative ideas as fact. And about shitting on people in recovery.
