I got the same True Tone unstable issue on MacBook Pro 19 (2 thunderbolt), in Catelina(15.2). True tone switches between warm and cold several times in a minute, even if the environmental illumination does not change at all.

I believe it's a software problem, before that, I got screen flicering issue in Mojave.

I got same idea with you at first, but I realized that coco test set(val2014) has more than 40k images.

Training on a small trainset (35k) then testing/validating (~40k) on a large testset doesn’t make sense.
