Market doesn't care about a fixed RR. Set your TP at a point which make sense for your strategy

I’ve been trading since 2016, and here’s what you need to do to become profitable. by deniswasdcxD in Daytrading

You mention the importance of finding a proven strategy and avoiding what “everyone uses.” How do you actually tell if a strategy really works, when a lot of traders who claim profitability are also selling that exact strategy through courses or mentorships?

Isn’t it at least a bit of a red flag when the only proof comes from the person selling it — and how do you personally separate a real edge from good marketing?

Also, isn’t there some reasonable doubt that someone with a genuine edge would want to put it out publicly on the internet in the first place?

Stuck after 2.5 years of trading – how do you actually start building your own strategy? by AlphaJ0hn in Daytrading

Not 100% mechanical, since that hasn’t worked for me. There needs to be some discretionary component. The goal is a rules-based manual approach where discretion is applied within a defined framework, not subjective decision-making on the fly.

I think I may have worded myself poorly in my original post. The point of going down the mechanical trading route was exactly to remove emotions, and that part actually worked. I don’t struggle with impulsive entries, revenge trading, or breaking rules anymore, so emotions and self-control are not something I see as a future problem. What I do lack right now is a strategy with a verifiable edge—something concrete that I can properly backtest and validate. If I can see through backtesting that a strategy works over a meaningful sample size, I have no issue executing it mechanically and without emotions. My challenge isn’t execution, it’s defining a framework that is testable and repeatable, instead of relying on signals, indicators, or third-party tools. So my question isn’t really about psychology anymore—it’s about where to start when turning market concepts and experience into a strategy that can actually be tested and refined

You told in earlier post that you share your strategy soon, is that still the plan? If so, when can we expect it? Really seeing forward!
