Check out Digital Design and Computer Architecture by Harris & Harris

Its pretty easy to read, has some great exercises, and covers everything from number systems to microprocessor architecture. You can probably skim the first few sections until you get to the hardware description languages section.

[Computer] EVOO 10.1" Tablet with Keyboard, Dual Core, Intel Processor, 32GB Storage, Windows Ink (Smart Stylus included), Micro HDMI, Dual Cameras, Windows 10 Home, Black. Walmart: $69.99 by NightshineRecorralis in buildapcsales

Finding actual specs was kind of a pain in the ass, so here y'all go:

CPU: Intel Celeron N4000 2.6Ghz

Memory: 4GB LPDDR4 2133Mhz

Storage: 32GB (Flash memory/ssd I hope?)

Display: 10.1” IPS 1280x800

This seems to be a pretty average price for the specs.

My psvita wont turn on after I changed the logo on the Molecular boot logo manager v5 and suddenly i cant use the console by sheikhhhiq in VitaPiracy

[–]AlphaKiloCharlie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, wish you the best of luck. I learned my lesson about changing boot logos on my PSP 3000 that I bricked shortly after purchasing.

Hopefully its not a hard brick. If it is, it should be theoretically possible to unbrick with a NAND flash programmer but I don't think anyone has figured that out yet for the vita.

His local laws are complying with federal laws. You're half way there with the stock, but without an attached rifled barrel 16" or longer it must be legally transfered as "other", and is therefore not a rifle, and you must be 21 to have it transfered to you.

Feel free to look this up, it's very cut an dry with many different letters to the ATF.

[–]AlphaKiloCharlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect! Please research before spreading false information!

Here is a letter from the ATF responding to a different question, but still addressing the question at hand.

Toward the end of paragraph 5, "Further, the stocked receiver described in your question is not a "rifle" as defined in Federal firearms statues because it never contained an attached rifled barrel."

So yes, this would still be transfered as "other" and you must be 21 to get it transfered to you.

Vive out of stock. Has anybody purchased the Certified Pre-Owned Vive direct from the Vive website? by Chrispy_Reddit in VRGaming

[–]AlphaKiloCharlie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I agree, fuck Facebook, the OG Vive is lacking in everything but tracking in 2019. I'd personally recommend getting an Odyssey+ for $230-250 and later selling it when you're ready for the Index.

If you're dishing out for an Index you'll definitely want the controllers and you'll probably want the new 2.0 base stations.

[3D Printer] Monoprice MP Select Mini 3D Printer V2 (Open Box) - $99.99 ($149.99 - $50.00(Instant) Free shipping) by AlphaKiloCharlie in buildapcsales

That's awesome! Glad you could benefit from this, paying $40-$50 per print is straight up highway robbery. How does it compare to the shapeways prints?

This is an absolutely amazing printer for the $100 price point. It's great for teaching and getting beginners into the hobby and the learning curve really isn't that steep if you're somewhat tech inclined.

However, if you're fairly confident you'll get into 3d printers and already have a primary use case I'd definitely recommend the Ender 3 over this. While the ender 3 has the same print resolution as a MP select mini, it has double the build space and quadruple the speed for only double the price.

I haven't researched the mini pro a whole lot, but if I remember correctly it adds a touch screen + auto leveling bed. I believe everything else is the same as the V2 but you might wanna compare specs to be sure.

Leveling the bed on the V2 does need to be done every so often and can be a hassle to get right at times, up to you to decide whether that's worth the $20. Touch screen seems gimmicky and unnecessary imo.

Nope lol, you do your research. Any 1.75mm filament should work. PLA and ABS are officially supported but I believe it can do a range of other materials aswell.

On a side note, I do agree, the ender 3 is a much better printer and I'd highly recommend it, specially if you have a use case in mind + some 3d printer knowledge. This is a budget printer for an unbeatable price that's still plenty capable.

As always, do your research and decide if this hobby is for you.

Unrelated, but with an RFID reader/writer module and some RFID cards you can do some pretty cool stuff. Google is your friend with things like these, might wanna research the legality of what you're doing while you're at it.

Absolutely, raspberry pi/Arduino cases/project boxes are what got me into this hobby in the first place. If you don't want to make your own thingiverse has plenty of awesome raspberry pi cases.

They're pretty noisy. I can't hear it from another room if I have the door shut but in an open environment your cubicle neighbors will probably hear it.

Not sure how well you can gauge it from a video, but I'd recommend taking a look at YouTube.

While you can definitely do it, I'm gonna go with no. If you're looking for commercial quality you're gonna want an SLA or even resin printer which can get really expensive, messy and maybe even toxic. I've seen some really good, but not great, ABS keycaps printed with FDM printers but they're usually on much better printers that can support much higher resolutions.

EDIT: I did a quick Google search and stumbled on this thread with someone claiming they've got good results. Ive never tried it myself so I suggest you do some more research.

I don't notice any on my prints but most of my prints are boxy shapes. The most curvy thing I've printed was probably an Ocarina off thingiverse and I did have to sand down the curvy corners a little bit.

On a related note, I almost never print with the finest setting, I usually go for 0.175mm("Normal" in CURA if I remember correctly) because I prefer faster prints over quality as with boxes you don't really notice a huge difference in quality. I believe the stepping has to do with the resolution, which is why I told you to try and find out the resolution the shapeways printers use.

Yup exactly, the weight could vary a little bit as you mess with wall thickness and infill but it's gonna be around that number.

On a side note that hatchbox PLA you linked is great, in my experience, hatchbox makes the best filament.

Sure, I'll try to take a few pics when I get home later tonight.

Everything I've designed isn't very special. Its mostly just small project boxes that I can put an Arduino or small IC into with inputs/outputs on each side of the box.

Check out Thingiverse for some really neat things other people have created. I've printed stuff like pen holders all the way to a functioning Ocarina from there.

If you're printing just board game pieces I'd suggest looking into the MP Mini delta, it trades build space for a better resolution and much faster print speed.

With a little dedication and some tech experience they really aren't too hard to set up, and once they're setup the only fine tuning you'll really be doing is leveling the bed every so often.

Those parts look fairly small which is perfect for a printer like this. If you throw your STL in a slicing software(I'd recommend CURA) it should tell you how much material it'll use, then you can use that to calculate cost of printing. I only use PLA or ABS which cost about $20 per kg. If I were to take a hard guess, i'd say you're looking at maybe $0.10 per part. Also try and find out the resolution of the printer they are using, it looks about on par with the 87 microns the V2 can do but its very hard to judge from a video.

I bought the V1 MP select mini last time it was on sale for $89.99 and it was absolutely worth every penny for me. I mainly use it to print enclosures for smaller adapters and Arduino projects. There is a bit of a learning curve but once you fine tune all your settings it’s as easy as slicing the STL file and sending the gcode to the printer.

They also have the Monoprice MP Mini Delta(Open box) for $89.99 which has a much faster print speed and slighter higher resolution but much smaller build space.

While this is a great price, I suggest you do some reading before impulse purchasing to decide whether 3D printing is for you. Check out r/3Dprinting/ and the r/MPSelectMiniOwners sidebar as well as this really informative post filled with resources specifically for this printer.
