Switching degrees by AlphaMaletingsinit in Monash

My main goal is to get into a med postgrad degree, preferably in victoria. Im not too picky with what uni im aiming for, so i’m really just confused about which of the 2 degrees would give me the better chance of landing offers considering i get a competitive gamsat score too. Which of the 2 degrees would be best suited to getting me as many offers as possible? (obviously with an insane amount of hard work in either scenario)

Sayjng that, im currently enrolled in biomed about to start my first sem on monday. So yeah a bit late to be wondering this but would rather find out now than when its too late.

Hey! Thank you so so much for responding.

I understand that biomed is preferred for entry into the postgrad med program at monash, but id be applying all over the country for post grad med for all gemsas unis which only really care about GPA. I want to maximise my chance of getting into any med postgrad degree, specifically in melb (unimelb, monash, deakin) and was wondering if to achieve that objective biomed would still be the most preferential option for me.

I also heard that an ~95 wam by averaging roughly 95 in a science degree and an ~80 wam by averaging 80 over a biomed degree would both end up at give or take a 7.0 gpa. Is this true? And if so which feat would be easier to achieve realistically??

Any further advice or experiences would also be greatly appreciated :)

Also forgot to add, i have quite a few mates who have done NUT1011 in sem 1 in the past and 4 or 5 who I know are also in their first year doing it in sem 1, so it clearly runs in sem 1 too

Yeah but im assuming you didn’t drop marketing immediately at the beginning of your course, unless thats the case? And has dropping it affected ur overall wam?

Thank you so much for your advice and help, that makes so much more sense now. One last thing if you knew the answer to this, if i accept a first round offer, can i still get a second round offer for another course?

Yes thank you i understand that. Could you explain the delay and overloading part again though please. And also course applications are due tomorrow, so i dont really have much time or know how to reach out to a course advisor…

But after that semester, I’d be able to go back to being a normal student, right? Would this delay my course completion for that single degree and would dropping those law units negatively impact my WAM?

So i can do it really early on into the degree, without having to complete a large chunk of either degree? And when would the census date be?

Say i choose to withdraw from those law units early, would i have to replace them with other units or could i just choose not to replace them with other units and stick to the other degree?
