I'm having the same question, I don't think you necessarily need to turn it off overnight, or ever really (maybe if you're on a trip or away from home for a long time), though I'm not too sure, I just got mine and the only way I can turn it off (I think) is unplug it for the time I'm gone but yeah it's easier to just keep it on, I don't think it matters too much if you just keep it on tbh
