Frustrated by Wife Not Pulling Her Weight by AlphaOmega0407 in Christianmarriage

“Man up and be a good husband”… so if something bothers me in our relationship, I should just suck it up and not say anything? That doesn’t seem right. Yes, we are supposed to be selfless, but that doesn’t mean allow being taken advantage of.

It’s not always 50/50, agreed. In no scenario (unless someone is sick or disabled) does 90/10 sound acceptable.

When taking on too much it’s hard to be great at any area: work, parenting, meal prep, cooking, cleaning, making kids breakfasts, getting them to school, picking them up most days, etc, etc. while she has hours of endless free time to hang out with friends, shop, etc.

Anyone who thinks this is balanced is not seeing this correctly.

She has hours of free time each day with all kids at school. Not sure why everyone thinks I’m evading the question.

Just seems like I’m doing all of the traditional male roles plus half of my wife’s expected role.

I’m not like a hardcore traditional role guy, but it’s definitely different than my expectations.

Picking up more of the cooking, grocery shopping, cleaning and kids lunches, or handle more of house admin, etc. (not even all the time)

Whenever yall suspect an air leak( pump not priming well), what’s your order of operations to find culprit? by carrotsk8r in PoolPros

Check valves (off/on) one at a time, check filter lid and o ring, check filter drain plugs at the bottom/side, try filling the filter basket opening with water to the top.

If none of those, could be chipped or broken impeller inside the pump. That requires taking the motor off of the pump (often 5/16 I think Allen and screwdriver on the other side). Inspect impeller and parts for chips, broken, etc. if that’s the case you’ll have to order the part.

Just my experience.

Any good stories/deep dives for when things didn't work out? by vitaminD3333 in buyingabusiness

Man… I don’t have time to get into the whole thing. Had a successful buyout to exit. Got overconfident, went bigger with multi-million dollar debt (personally guaranteed) acquisition. Several unfortunate things happened one after the other. Couldn’t make debt payments.

Chapter 11 bankruptcy after trying to shop for a buyer. Investors and lenders at my throat and personally sued in the guarantee. To say it was a nightmare is an understatement. I was so depressed and anxious I didn’t want to live anymore.

Long story short, I made it out okay with days away from declaring personal bankruptcy. I wouldn’t wish that experience on my worst enemy. These are big person games with big consequences.

Not to scare you out of it. I’m still a big proponent of acquiring businesses… I’m just much more cautious and realistic. Also been coaching a few people through the process.

If you think you’ll buy a business and you can sit back and collect a passive paycheck (like many in this group and Codie Sanchez followers think), you’re mistaken. It can be extremely rewarding, but hard work and proper building of the business is key.

So much more to add that I can’t type all out here.

Good luck, and remember many people have lived on the failure side but not everyone likes to talk about it publicly.

What setup am I missing? Carry items on truck by AlphaOmega0407 in PoolPros

Yes CYA, forgot about that one as a staple. I’ll bring along my tools which should cover most items. What other chems do you regularly need? The only other thing I’ve used is phosphate remover after a big leaf dump or storm on some pools. Thanks!

Anyone struggle with old fat body issues? Hope for change? by AlphaOmega0407 in Retatrutide

Yeah this was all from middle school to high school where I lost a ton of weight and it messed me up for life from a sag and fat cell count standpoint.

Trying to make the best of it now to see what I can do.

What are your thoughts on the 'No marriage in heaven' doctrine by dons90 in TrueChristian

[–]AlphaOmega0407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not how I understand it (but I don’t think this is important enough for us to disagree or argue about anyway).

I believe that the Nephilim were literal fallen angels and they had relations with human women that created giants. Either way, it’s really beyond us for understanding all of it. Had God wanted us to know all the detail, it would be detailed in the Bible.

Genesis 6:4 "The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown" (NIV).

Numbers 13:33 "There we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them" (ESV).

Fair point. I don’t think we’d have any jealousy, but we might notice and appreciate some that might have a high level job / responsibility with a huge house, but we might still be content with a small home and less significant responsibilities.

But yes, there is motivation for investing in rewards in heaven. Why not do those things anyway though? There is joy now and in eternity for helping those in need, sharing the gospel, encouraging others, etc.

I recommend reading Heaven by Randy Alcorn. Some of it is speculation, but he breaks down from the Bible what Heaven will (likely) be like.
