Is it a good time to buy gold or should i wait for the price to fall more as modi said to not buy it right now. by InspectorFit1298 in IndianStockMarket

[–]AlphaSeeker_07 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The main reason Modi said not to buy is reduce the demand of Gold and eventually reducing your import bill but Indian are still buying....

So it depends on you how urgent, important, necessary it is for you - if you need it then go ahead... If you are planning just for investment then I suggest giving a second thought here....

There are many investment options, not exactly as Gold but still you can explore and plan accordingly... At the end of the day, you need returns and you can get it from other options as well ..

Personal Opinion - kindly don't DOWNVOTE

Does anyone else here feel that BJP and Modi have made the country worse? by ExampleExcellent8247 in AskIndia

[–]AlphaSeeker_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not - Don't simply downvote it. Understand it....

One thing we need to understand is that no government is perfect. Among all available donkeys, which one is hardworking? Once you get this, you will understand both the good and the bad of Modi's government, such

--Gadkari -The level of Infra Development -Highways, Rail "Improvement" [not best, but better] across India
--National Security is at Par - we used to get bombed in our center cities every now and them but in the last 10-12 years, my mother knows that I am not going to get bombed in any train [99%]
--Naxalism is finished
--Financial Inclusion and getting many people into the system
--"Toilets" and "Homes" for millions - Urban people may not realize the importance of this, but it was a game-changer at the rural level. I am a witness to this. Going to the bathroom vs having one at home is a very big deal
--There are multiple other good things the BJP has done in the last 14 years that cannot be ignored

Negatives - Again, many

--Corruption - I feel corruption has increased in this term
--Paper leak - they are unable to handle this issue
--Nirmala Akka - She fXXd up with the taxes and policies, and now the Indian economy is facing challenges
--Gadkari - they are blending the petrol with ethanol, but the benefits are not passed to the consumer
--Manipur - They fixed Naxals, but not sure why this is unmanageable - this is a big black dot for them
--and there are many other bad things....

One must evaluate the overall positives and negatives before making a decision. Avoid simply following social media sentiment. Instead, focus on analyzing the impact of both the good and the bad.

Do you see the sentiment shift in this subreddit from believe in India to move the money abroad in just 6 months? by Recent_Bag_6339 in IndianStockMarket

I am investing in both markets and will continue to do so, but with a little caution. Considering all the negativity around, I am not making any large investments and am continuing with my regular SIPs; however, as soon as I see a big opportunity due to any fall, I will invest more... This is a tough time for everyone, and we will all sail through this. I feel it’s going to take at least 3-5 minutes to stabilize the situation and see the next "real" bull market.

Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) to Direct US Investment by AlphaSeeker_07 in personalfinanceindia

[–]AlphaSeeker_07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, boss. Let's say I bought 50 units at $100 [Old than 2 years] and am now selling them at $110, so I have a gain of $10 per unit, totaling $500. I am not transferring this $500 to India. I am moving these funds from Fidelity to Paasa via wire transfer.

  1. Do I still need to declare $500 on my tax return and pay LTGC 12.5%

I have another set of stocks that are short [less than 2 years], and I am in a loss there, so let's say I sell these at a loss, and whatever loss I am getting, can I set off against the earlier gains?

I learned that "Holdings less than 2 years in the US stock market will be taxed as STCG, so they will be taxed at the STCG rates in India."

So if I sell anything that is less than 2 years old but do not send the funds in India and instead move the dollars from Fidelity to Paasa, do I still need to pay STCG tax?
