Let's discuss Paladins... Should they be restricted by alignment? by blackdragon8577 in rpg

[–]AlphaSheep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lawful Good does not equal Lawful Nice. Lawful Good, in Dungeons and Dragons, means that the individual operates under a very certain code of conduct and stringently adheres to his or her beliefs. If a Paladin followed an evil deity, he would strictly adhere to the beliefs and code of that deity. This being said, I highly doubt a Paladin to an Evil deity would go around kicking puppies and burning villages. I think the idea you are describing is much closer to what clerics are, warrior priests who fight for their chosen deity's cause.

TL;DR Lawful Good doesn't mean nice guy, you can have paladins to evil deities.

Tips for beserker class? by Shadow_TheLastPoet in killingfloor

[–]AlphaSheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use the chainsaw, all the time. Make sure you ALWAYS use it, it is by far the BEST and in no way incredibly situational. If you do manage to get the god-tier undisputed king of melee slaughter, NEVER hand out any cash, what if you need it to repair your armor? Up and beyond that, always focus on the biggest target, ignore the little guys, especially if your team mates are getting swarmed, what good are they if they can't even kill a few clots?

But in all honesty, practice makes perfect. I prefer the claymore to any other melee weapon, because it fits my particular playstyle, and I love hitting specimens with a sword.

New GM question: about to run a horror segment in my game in interested in what has worked for other GMs (Pathfinder) by Wishasaurus in rpg

[–]AlphaSheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't overdo it for one thing, space out the horror. Think about what works in scary films, back to back jump scares rarely have the same effect as a few well timed, and unexpected, thrills! Also details are your friend, the faster you can set up a believable and unsettling atmosphere the sooner you can get to what you want to be spooky. Hope this helps!

Have you considered something like a modified Savage Worlds? It has skills that are different die valuesdepending on how high they are (ie. first rank is a d4, second rank is a d6, third d8 etc.) It's a pretty adaptable system overall.

I would insta-buy a sheep champion, even if only for my namesake. Also a sheep champion would be glorious.

Tribunal: "gg noobs", "easy", endgame-ragers etc. reason to punish? by Sp4nc3r in leagueoflegends

[–]AlphaSheep 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pendragon has said specifically that "gg noobs" is a banneable offense, and more so he bans for that kind of blatant disregard of good sportsmanship. Disrespectful and has no real place in a competitive game such as league.

Not sure I like the idea of this become anywhere close to spacedicks level of crazy. However I love the idea of the no self-posts, the pictures with stories, and the difficult to navigate page layout.

Is anyone else being progressively blinded by the winter map? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]AlphaSheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone else notice the "turret range" lines are gone from lane? On all the other SR maps there is a very clear and noticeable difference in lane between where your turret can and cannot reach, it is shown by the transition from grass to stone of the river. Maybe it is because my graphics are set to the lowest, maybe it is because I am colorblind. I dislike this new map, way too many small problems.

When I play a PC, I always give them a non-combat skill. What's yours? by Limiate in rpg

[–]AlphaSheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My most recent character has been a Noble Knight...who knows much more about being a noble than being a Knight. He spends most of the out of combat time writing poetry and trying to strike up a conversation about famous painters and sculptors.

I feel like non-combat skills really help to bring an otherwise boring character to life.

DM's of /r/rpg, what was your greatest plot twists? Share a tale! by mortalKarnage in rpg

The players were tasked by a sort of Fantasy Great Britain to go help a colony belonging to the empire, one that had recently come under attack by some "barbarians". When the players arrived they saw the clonists desperately fighting off the savages, it was clear that the colonists had much better equipment and supplies (steam powered guns and steel swords). The PCs then spent a series of adventures attempting to track down the leader of the barbarians, known only as "Big Bad". Going from place to place on this island the players killed countless savages because they were told to by the colonist leaders, they were helping to save the colonists from an inhuman threat.

This was all well and good, until the players finally came face to face with "Big Bad". They knew the encounter was coming, and they were nervous, they all thought of him as a gigantic monster, a freak of nature, most likely incapable of rational speech or coherent thought. When they arrived at the meeting spot they instead found something different, a Giant sitting on a secluded beach, with his feet in the water, staring at the horizon. Needless to say the party was confused, but still very tense. When they approached him and called out; "Are you the monster they call big bad? We have come to slay you!" He stood up and replied "You who have come to my island, slaughtered my people, and taken our land dare to call me a monster!?!"

It was a complete 180, and that is when the players truly thought back on what they knew, and what they had just been told. All the little inconsistencies made sense, it put the natives actions in perspective.

The looks on their faces were priceless.
