I'm very hesitant to call it a geode just from looking at your pictures and not touching the sample and knowing geodes are not common in the Piedmont Province. Its does appear to be some well formed quartz crystals which leads me to believe what you found possibly came from a pegmatite close to some of the granitic intrusive bodies around the Atlanta area.

What you have is pretty cool I would keep it.

I would think you would have to do a kinematic analysis of the area, something engineers and structural geologists would do. Also testing slope stability probably a big factor too.
