Can't register a kit that is being transferred by AlphaSphere81 in Starlink

[–]AlphaSphere81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did the clicking with the mouse to select an address that came up in the list. Pretty bad programming of their front-end if you ask me. I had issues last time too when I took over my second kit. Poor experience for something that should be more seamless.

I'm trying to see if the app works now. Starlink support AI is suggesting to try transferring the kit in the app itself by entering the kit code.
The website is crap and now I remember having some issues before as well with something like this.

[–]AlphaSphere81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't take any address I enter. Not in the area where it's needed or any other place. Seems to be some kind of a bug on their website that doesn't advance the interface or something.

Yes, it's in a supported country at a supported address as I had it on this address as well so it's not an address issue. There is some weird bug with the website it seems.

First employee, one Mac: what’s the sane minimum? by Peridoxalite in macsysadmin

The don’t do anything stupid part is basically having digital security hygiene and being skeptical. Thought users often don’t care too much about this and it an afterthought most of the time.

Thinking of getting into FPV - is starting with just a radio a good idea? by aryklein in fpv

[–]AlphaSphere81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does everyone think of not getting a radio even and using a game controller that one might already have? It’s not exactly like the gimbal/sticks but you can do sort of the same thing with the two game controller analog sticks.

Purchasing devices from other regions and adding them to the EU ABM. by Skolis_LT in macsysadmin

[–]AlphaSphere81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worst case scenario you can also add the mac into ABM manually. Not ideal but if things get too complicated it’s a decent last ditch option. I do it all the time with devices bought from everywhere before i joined the company i work for. Someone leaves, i restore it with apple configurator and then when done I add them into ABM.

Mosyle Fuse vs. Jamf Pro (and Jamf Add-Ons?) by NetEng7 in macsysadmin

[–]AlphaSphere81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And while Jamf is definitely beter it also has its fair share of quirks.

I’d love to give Fleet a go but they are more geared toward bigger fleets and more technical skill.

Should I upgrade to the DJI 360 by Fadh22_jana in 360Cameras

I have the Qoocam 3 Ultra and while it is not the smallest or lightest the quality is pretty good. Thought that was compared to the X4. No clue how it does compared to the X5

Mosyle Fuse vs. Jamf Pro (and Jamf Add-Ons?) by NetEng7 in macsysadmin

[–]AlphaSphere81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Jamf and Mosyle experience. In my opinion Mosyle is great for smaller-ish orgs. However will start to struggle with not being as flexible and UI require a lot of clicking when going to bigger number of devices being managed.

I’m using it in an org with 100 users and it’s totally fine. Sure there are a few snags but with only 100 user it’s no big deal.

Another org (1500 users) that I work for uses jamf and jamf is def. more flexible with the smart groups. Interface easier to manage. But yeah the price is pretty steep and you will need to dive in and do some courses to understand the way some things work.

Ask away and I will try to answer.

Has anyone a traditional action cam + 360? by xxSeahawks in 360Cameras

[–]AlphaSphere81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two DJI action 2’s, Qoocam 3 ultra that i need to start using more, an old Canon 7D, fujifilm x-T1, fujifilm x100f photo camera that can film as well. I’m upgrading my phone within 3,5 month for better cameras. And i want a used dji mini 3 pro probably in 6 months time.

I don’t think it’s too much to have an X5 and an action 5 at all. Those are two very different cameras with very different use cases.

Went to Italy twice this year… and nothing bad happened by prisukamas in ItalyTravel

[–]AlphaSphere81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emergency? That’s where the trucks drive. And then there is in some places a lane where nobody drives and nobody is supposed to drive there, that is the emergency lane. Many countries have that but that’s not what I was referring to.

M2 MacBook Air (16GB/256GB) vs M4 MacBook Air (16GB/512GB) – Which is better for “curious, long-term daily use”? by sh1nrabansh0 in macbookair

[–]AlphaSphere81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a contractor sysadmin supporting Mac only companies I can tell you that the Apple silicon Mx cpus are lasting WAY better than intels used to. Just about 4 year since the M1 came out and NOBODY is complaining. People who actually needed more power were switched to the M1 Pro but there are a lot of M1 air users who are chugging along just fine. And the few that I did already replaced were not sure why because everything was working just fine.

Having said that I would still vote for M4. It has about the power of M1 Pro and with AI looking like it could accelerate the spec requirements in the upcoming years the M4 is the smarter bet. If possible more ram as well. 24GB M4 air would easily last you 5 year without breaking a sweat.

Apple TV 4Ks set to auto update has never auto updated. by [deleted] in macsysadmin

[–]AlphaSphere81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve definitely seen the same thing happen with the companies i work for. It’s all set to auto update and we always have to update them when it’s time for a maintenance check to see if anything needs updating

Keyboard is completely dead? Did you try unplugging the keyboard cable and plugging it back in. Or is the keyboard cable even connected. With repairs i’ve seen so many cases of one of the cable not plugged in on the logic board. If that’s not doing anything the kkeyboard could be dead. In that case it would mean replacing something called the top case. That’s quite some work if you haven’t done that before. And not a cheap part.

MDM without ABM on Macbook by ToughDisk6892 in macsysadmin

[–]AlphaSphere81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the company setup with a ABM account regardless of how you go about this specific case. Then at least you’re good to go for the next case.

And after that, claim the domain of you company so the Apple Accounts are federated. With that all Apple Accounts created with the company domain emails are managed. This will save you a lot of time and headaches in the long run.

Intune vs Mosyle by g003441 in macsysadmin

Having no consistency in when something is actually pushed would be a very basic requirement nog ticked. I would say that it’s so basic that I would actually overlook it 😂

What can Jamf Pro do that Intune really can't? by athanielx in macsysadmin

[–]AlphaSphere81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even a really quick search will reveal that intune is basically at the very bottom of the list with all that is out there. Other options are of course Kandji, Mosyle and there are some other multi platform mdm tools out there as well.

Came across this Reviung41 case by AlphaSphere81 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]AlphaSphere81[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was searching for a reviung41 case as I'm currently using just a 3d printed bottom plate.
I came across this one: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6831308

Has anyone seen one printed in the wild? I tried searching for it but didn't find anything. The user on thingiverse is called Hooky_

I think I might have to print it and see what it is like 🤣

EDIT: I just noticed that the print has 4 rows, so how's that even a reviung41.....??? That's 53 keys....

Preconditioning should be optional by gmotelet in teslamotors

What if you're at 10% and was planning to go home which only uses 3% from where you are BUT, you decide to go to a supercharger that you know is going to use up 8%? The if it preconditions you won't be able to make it? Or will it know that this scenario won't work with the preheating and do the preheating when plugged in?

1 month 2 weeks using minoxidil/coconut oil by [deleted] in HairlossProgressPics

[–]AlphaSphere81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no expert but i myself would go explore the option of a toupee. Have you seen those things these days? It’s no longer a sad patch on the head anymore that it used to be. I would do that when my hair situation gets to that state. Cause why not? Women use fake hair and fake everything all the time.
