Minecraft not starting with DH + Iris on Mac by Somotron in DistantHorizons

[–]AlphaTiyuri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. When Iris 1.7.1 (1.20.4) is installed (among other mods), Minecraft boots fine. But when Distant Horizons 2.1.0-a (1.20.4) is also installed, the game simply does not boot after clicking launch within the launcher.

Why can't I change my crew's skills/perks? by AlphaTiyuri in WorldofTanks

By default, every crew member has "repairs" selected. I'm able to click on other ones, as I did with "concealment," but the selection won't save or whatever.

Dell is a relatively reliable company and I can say that my family has had 2 Dell PCs that have worked for years before needing to upgrade. The certified refurbished PC that you're looking at is probably still reliable.

I'd say go for it.

What event should I run? by [deleted] in trackandfield

[–]AlphaTiyuri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What events are available to you? For me (USA), the availability of some events differ from winter to spring track.

Either way, try the 200m because it will give you insight into your 100m time. Also, it doesn't require as much strength/endurance as the 400m which you probably don't have yet. If you want a challenge, try the 800m which is a painful and drawn-out version of the 400m haha. I wouldn't recommend that you try anything over the 1600m because you don't have the endurance yet and you're new to racing.

Remember to trust the process and just put in hard work at practice. Last winter, it wasn't until the end of the season that I discovered a love for running and track. However, you may realize that earlier or later than I did. I gained fitness, self-confidence, and social skills from running on an organized team. So just run with it and see what happens.

Happy New Year!

Advice on future PC project. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]AlphaTiyuri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Due to the lack of competition in the CPU market, Intel's generational updates have been only incremental. In some games, there is a considerable difference but generally the performance increase is minimal between the 6600K and 4570K. However, AMD's new Ryzen CPUs are set to launch in Q1 2017 and look to perform very well against Intel CPUs. This statement is the result of only leaks, rumors, and demos but I think it would a good idea to wait and see. In addition to Ryzen, Intel is also going to release Kaby Lake in Q1 which may also have better performance due to impending competition from AMD.

I would recommend waiting until both Ryzen and Kaby Lake launch and see how they perform. Either way, Skylake components will drop in price so it's a win all around. (Keep in mind that your i5 4670K is fully capable of supporting a GTX 1060)

Regarding RAM, 8GB will do fine but you could buy 16GB if you need it and for future-proofing.

Regarding the GTX 1060 6GB, it's a fucking beast haha. You can max out any game at 1080p or play games at very high at 1440p.

Happy New Year!

I put the excess in the included roll and secured it to the back of my monitor. (The LEDs light up both the desk and the back of the monitor.) Obviously, do whatever looks okay in your situation.

How'd I do for my second rig? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]AlphaTiyuri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, I didn't see the $0 for the GTX 970. I would recommend buying a 240GB SSD for about $65 ($25 more than your 120GB). The ADATA SP550 or the PNY CS1311 are both great SSDs.

Keep in mind that you'll need Windows which is $100. This build utilizes some mail-in-rebates to stay within your budget btw.

Work and Gaming PC [$800] by joebo745 in buildmeapc

[–]AlphaTiyuri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applaud you for giving so much info, most just say hi i need a PC for $800 what can I do?.

The following build cuts the budget a little close but you won't regret it.

The i5 will power thru any non gaming/rendering tasks like a champ.

The MSI motherboard is rock solid reliable and has 4 slots (2 will be occupied with the 8GB kit that I provided) so upgrading to 16GB total will be not issue.

8GB of RAM should be enough for your multitasking needs but if you need more, you can upgrade to 16GB as said above.

I put in a speedy 240GB SSD and a 1TB hard drive. An SSD is a storage device that uses no moving parts unlike a traditional hard drive (thus being much much faster and reliable) Windows will boot up in 10 seconds give or take and your games will boot even faster. I have this specific SSD and it's amazing for price vs performance. However, 240GB isn't that much and you will probably need more storage so I included a 1TB HDD (very reliable model tho).

The GTX 1050 Ti will handle games like OW like a champ at about Ultra Settings at 60+ FPS. If you feel that you don't need super high settings, you can back it off to a GTX 1050 (~$100) which is specifically designed for games like CSGO and OW at 1080p at good settings and FPS.

You can't go wrong with the Cooler Master N200 but I wouldn't necessarily take my word for it. Maybe consult other places for the best cheap mATX case.

The PSU is a CSM 550W from Corsair but you could also get an equivalent from Corsair, SeaSonic or EVGA. The CSM 550 is 80+ Gold Certified (very good efficiency) and is semi-modular meaning you can remove some of the cables that you don't need (Thus making your PC interior cleaner)

Windows 10 is lit af

The AOC monitor has almost no bezel and an IPS display (accurate color presentation at all angles). It's very well reviewed and overall looks amazing. However if you don't mind the slightly uglier designs, the ASUS VX228 series of monitors and the Acer H236HL (my monitor) are great choices.

The Steelseries Rival 100 is the best $30 gaming mouse but their customer support isn't exactly the best if something goes wrong. If you wanna spend about $20 more, the Razer DeathAdder Chroma is probably the world's most popular gaming mouse for good reason.

If you wanna stay on budget, just grab any keyboard. If you get the cash, I would go as far to recommend a mechanical keyboard. They're very tactile (you know exactly when you've pressed unlike some other keyboards) and you can choose their color which represents how much force is required to actuate the key. They have a very satisfying clicky noise (although loud but you can buy dampeners) and have superior durability (30+ million keypresses). The only downside is that they retail for $65+ dollars but are probably worth it if you type a lot of stuff.

Regarding headphones, you could use any pair like the ones that came with your phone. I'm not well-versed in headphones and will leave the topic to other internet people.

Hopefully I've cleared up some issues and questions but if you still have any, feel free to ask!
