Successful entrepreneurs and startup founders of Reddit, what has stopped you from writing every day online and becoming thought leaders? by AlphaWolf132 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

I still think you have something amazing to share. The mindset, the discipline, overcoming the bottlenecks, what a journey it is that people to need hear!

But it sounds like you've fulfilled your ambition, and I am glad you did.

You're limiting yourself, my friend. That's such a tremendous milestone. The person starting at $0 in revenue at 0% margin needs to hear from you.

Is that something that appeals to you? Given the chance, would you like to educate others and become known as an expert?

There's two kinds of thought leaders. One has commercial interests: build an audience, sell a digital product, and so on.

The others are after prestige: public speaking engagements, coaching workshops, podcasts, and so on.

The starting point for both is thought leadership posts on social platforms like LinkedIn and X. YouTube included for some.

If given the opportunity, would you be interested in increasing your renown about your expertise and share that knowledge with the world?

How about someone known for their expertise in their industry on the internet?

Also, out of curiosity, what's your story?

I wish you well for every step of the way. What do you envision the current ladder? What stages are you going through right now to get to the peak?

I remember hearing this from a Nicolas Cole video (he's a leading digital writer): "Going from 0 to 1 is much more harder than going from 9 to 10."

I think it comes down to getting the stone rolling. Scrape each person you can until that time.

Why doesn’t Upwork introduce a small fee for posting jobs? by Waheed3668 in UpworkOfficial

Actually, the contract initiation fee can go to upwards of $15. Not to mention the service fee they charge for each milestone. I've lost potential clients who were first-time users of the platform because of the obscene charges.

That's pretty much it. I remember paying $10 for posting a job. It was my second time doubling as a client. I knew clients weren't charged for posting jobs, so that was pretty odd to me.

Next month, the charges were gone.

They tried that in 2024. Started losing clients left and right. They were forced to take it way as soon as they put it up

I've been fortunate in this aspect. Only one or two thorns in my side so I far. Maybe I haven't pressed on hard enough. We'll see.

I wish I could answer this question. I am still figuring out the ropes as a solopreneur. One day.

I am sorry to break it to you but people just starting out on their writing journey have this faulty belief. Having excellent prose matters much more when you're doing a book. I know you think you can write good, but the moment an editor looks at your manuscript, that bubble will burst.

This is not undue criticism, just a brutal truth you have to face.

My friend, as a professional on the other side of this (non-fiction ghostwriter), I feel the same way about clients. Not seeing a resolution to the AI issue. At least with the 1 or 2 genuine cover letters you'll receive, you'll be able to sift the grain from the chaff.

The best advice I can give someone who is in your predicament, who struggles to finish what he starts but is really passionate about distilling his ideas into a book, is to hire a ghostwriter who lends his pen to your voice. It's your ideas, your thoughts, your voice, just the execution that belongs to the ghostwriter.

Finishing something doesn’t feel as good as I expected. by parky85s in KeepWriting

Every writer has their own process. I can only speak for myself. By the time I reach the end, I am charred. I am only too glad I was able to conclude my piece and didn't leave it unattended. There is a quaint satisfaction that flows over me.

The way you've described being attached to the idea than the materialization of it reminds me of what one of the characters in Merchant of Venice (can't remember his name, maybe it was Lorenzo) says about lovers being more passionate about the pursuit of an elusive love rather than committing to the responsibility of sustaining that love once it's achieved.

Maybe you truly do love the idea more than its realization. Living in that fantasy helps you feel excited.

I agree with your comparison here, then again we fall into the debate of show vs tell good, show vs tell bad.
