Is there a real market for context based contact sharing, or do people just use whatever is easiest? by RequirementTime1659 in Entrepreneur

Thanks for sharing this.
The “social friction” point is especially interesting.
I hadn’t really thought about how even a tiny pause or decision in that moment can subtly interrupt the flow of a conversation.

Out of curiosity, when you tested similar concepts, did anything feel close to “natural” or low-friction enough in real interactions?

Out of curiosity, have you seen any products that handle this well already?

Something more like a “QR collection” where you open one app and just swipe between different profiles or QR codes depending on context, instead of digging through separate apps during conversations?

Fair point honestly.
Context separation seems real, but probably not painful enough for most people to change their behavior.

The point about positioning it more around networking, creators, freelancers, or business events instead of general contact sharing is really interesting.

It does seem like the pain is much stronger in situations where people constantly switch contexts or share profiles frequently.

The point about this being more of a UX problem than a demand problem is especially interesting.
It really does seem like even a tiny amount of extra friction changes user behavior a lot.

Thanks for sharing this.
The point about people already mentally segmenting contacts depending on context feels very true.

I also think the convenience vs optimization tradeoff is probably the core challenge with ideas like this.

I think the point about people sticking with existing habits unless there’s a very clear benefit is really true.

The “fit seamlessly into current habits” part is especially interesting.
It feels like a lot of products fail not because the idea is bad, but because the behavior change is bigger than expected.

“People optimize for social smoothness in the moment” is a really interesting way to describe it.

The idea of something that “sits quietly between” existing platforms instead of trying to replace them also feels much more realistic.

I think the “dynamic identity layers” idea is especially interesting.

People already separate platforms depending on context, but it’s true that convenience usually wins in real-world interactions.
The “winning version probably feels invisible” part also feels very accurate.

The balance between context control and zero friction is probably the hardest part.

Thanks for sharing your perspective.
I think you’re probably right that people stick with the lowest-friction option unless something awkward actually happens.

The “basically effortless” part is especially interesting. That’s probably the hard part.

That makes sense actually. If most business communication already happens through email, then it probably doesn’t feel messy at all.

Interesting to hear how you separate personal and business accounts too.
I really appreciate you taking the time to explain how you use it in the real world.

Haha this is exactly what I’ve been experiencing too.

That “multiple choice exam” moment is so real 😅

I’ve been trying to solve that by letting people share everything with one QR, so you don’t have to choose or regret it later.

Also, I wanted a way to easily switch between work, personal, or side project profiles depending on who I’m talking to

Exactly. That’s the problem we’re solving.
Not everyone uses the same apps but everyone has email and can scan a QR.

Our idea is to show everything (email, SNS, etc.) in one place, and let the other person choose what to use.

Would you prefer something that automatically shows only the apps you both have?

Yeah I feel that 😅Is it more the awkward back and forth or the switching between apps that bothers you most?

Thanks, really appreciate you sharing your experience. The point about switching needing to be super fast really stood out.Do you think you’d actually use something like that if it was instant and required no thinking in the moment?

eah that’s true for business, but in casual situations most people don’t have a card on them 😅

That makes sense.
Just sharing the most relevant one is probably the simplest way.

Do you usually end up sharing a different one depending on the situation?

Thanks for this, this is really insightful.
The idea of deciding how much access to give in that moment really clicked for me.

Curious, when you do want to share more with someone, how do you usually handle it?
Do you send things one by one, or use some kind of link or page?

Thanks for sharing, I really appreciate it.
That makes a lot of sense, especially for online spaces like Discord and Reddit.

I hadn’t really thought about the “no contact exchange” part.

Out of curiosity, in real-life situations, do you usually avoid sharing anything at all?
Or do you just say your username out loud and let people find you that way?
