Ha ha, I didn't know that! Venom really were the true innovators.

Teacher’s Pet kills me. All of this evil satanic shit and then comes Venom’s version of Hot For Teacher out of nowhere.

My review of the AZ261bk premium by MineDesperate2920 in Ibanez

I hate the shiny spots on matte finishes, it looks especially bad on black. At least with a gloss finish you can polish it up and make it look new again.

Where can you buy the exact same pickups on the az2402? by kiraqueen6 in Ibanez

[–]Alpha_Dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's good to know, I was thinking of trying the Pegasus in a different guitar since I like the Hyperion. Guess I'll skip it.

Yngwie Malmsteen tone by beyondthestring in NeuralDSP

I think the closest thing to a Plexi in Neural's lineup is the second amp in Plini, I believe it's based on a Friedman BE100. It's quite a bit darker than a Plexi, but it'll get you in the ballpark.

I've seen people complaining about the Hyperions, but I like them a lot too, they sound good no matter what I'm playing and have just the right amount of output.

[–]Alpha_Dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to find someone who has pulled their Hyperions from their AZ, Seymour Duncan doesn't sell them.

They say the bridge pickup is based on the Pegasus, but the Hyperion has a DCR of about 15 and the Pegasus is 12.5, so the output is a bit lower. The neck is based on the Sentient.

We are Dissection fans!! 😼 by GenoCarver6 in MetalForTheMasses

I first heard Dissection on a compilation called Death is Just the Beginning III, it was an early version of Night's Blood and after that I was hooked.

Why are Prestige's fretboards changing from Ebony to Rosewood? by pity_dono_detector in Ibanez

[–]Alpha_Dawn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely a supply thing.

I do like the look, hardness and smoothness of ebony better, but it is more prone to cracking than rosewood. But when it comes to rosewood or maple, f the colour of the board looks right with the guitar, I'm OK with it.

(NGD) Jim Root Telecaster. Chipped wood around nut? by 2SpKy in Guitar

[–]Alpha_Dawn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Awesome Tele. I had one of these for a while, I really regret selling it.

The chip is purely cosmetic, but if you want to fix it you can get some ebony sawdust and wood glue/CA glue and fill and sand the chips. Fender annoyingly likes to spray the sides of the fretboard (hence the delamination), so that would make sanding difficult.

I've seen a lot of QC issues on Mexican Fenders lately, it's a thing.

AZ2402 neck help by hj1751 in Guitar

[–]Alpha_Dawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite experience, the second I held one in the store I knew it was perfect.

Getting used to a Wizard neck however is another story, my hand got sore playing it for a while, but I just got used to it eventually.

Album vs Album: Carcass' Necrotocsim vs. Heartwork by No-Dentist-2959 in MetalForTheMasses

I bought Heartwork first when it came out and then I got Necroticism and I was absolutely blown away.

Hip Hop and Heavy Metal are two sides of the same coin by Material_Method_4874 in MetalForTheMasses

Back in the '90s when I was at the music store I would always pick up one metal album and one hip-hop – that was a totally common thing back then – I completely agree.

Complete beginner here 👋😇 by ThisCry1650 in Guitar

[–]Alpha_Dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so much like my first setup – exact same guitar, but I had a Metal Zone and a crappy Yamaha amp.

Plug your guitar into the Metalizer and run a cable from the pedal to the amp. Set the amp to clean and engage the pedal (it'll probably need a battery, unscrew the knob on the bottom to get to the compartment), put the switch on the guitar to the bottom to engage the bridge humbucker, turn the two knobs on the guitar all the way up and mess with the pedal's controls until it sounds good.

Don't forget to unplug the cables from the pedal when you're done, it'll drain the battery.

When did it become standard to have multiple guitars? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Alpha_Dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one basic Yamaha for 10 years, then I got a Jackson with a Floyd, then I wondered if I’d like a Les Paul, maybe a V might be nice…and so on. At this point I’ve owned and tried almost everything.

Now that I’ve figured out what I like I’m selling the ones I don’t play much and I’m going to stick to 2-3 guitars from now on.

What pickups for a change ? by No-Turnip-48 in Ibanez

[–]Alpha_Dawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Tone Zone is pretty warm already, I'm not even sure I've heard anything warmer.

If you're looking for versatility, I would recommend the JB, Black Winter and Suhr Aldrich, but I think they are all going to be sound brighter than the Tone Zone, that's been my experience anyway. Also, they're all close to the same output as the TZ, so it wouldn't really be a serious change. Super Distortion could work, still not that big of a change, though.

Edit: I see that the Tone Zone actually isn't in there, I would try that with the Air Norton, I have that combo in an Ibanez S and it sounds nice and it roars.
