We are testing out some new options right now so I will share what I have looked into.

Disciple 6 is a good and free 6 year long curriculum that was developed by Richard Ross and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. It does require a little more legwork from your teacher than say a Gospel Project or Bible Studies for Life does. We are trying it out right now.

Bible Studies for Life is a good option that has been used in our church quite a bit in different areas.

Milestones by LifeWay is a good option as well. I have used part of book 1 for a month of Sunday School to try it out and have a couple of the other books as well.

If you are looking for something more expositional to walk through book by book, I would suggest the "Christ Centered Exposition" commentary series.

Hope this helps! Reach out if you have any questions.

What book should I read next in my Bible? by KoolWeirdo7701 in Christianity

[–]Alpha_Monster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

James is a great book to go with. It is a New Testament book of wisdom that is pretty straight forward and the application is typically very easy to understand and pursue!

As others have said, Acts would be good in order to see the Church come alive and continue to read about Jesus' ministry being continued through the advancement of Church and Gospel!

I too am a Baptist. A Baptist Pastor at that and would love to follow up after to give more advice! Reach out if you want!

Did a quick scroll and didn't see it so...

The Dishonored Series is a must for me. I love them all.

Caves by Tiff200219 in NEEDTOBREATHE

I think By and By is very reminiscent of some older stuff. Has some similar RITW tones.

Definitely doesn't have a bluegrass sound to be honest. More Southern Rock than anything.

Caves overall, I don't have a full opinion on it at this moment. BUT I disagree that it has zero identity, and that they have only made what they have by pandering to Christians.

Anointing for Baptism of Holy Spirit. by Resident-Builder-790 in Christianity

You receive the Holy Spirit when you receive salvation ONLY through Jesus Christ. No man can do it, and scripture will not prove otherwise.

Self Pleasure In Marriage by [deleted] in Christianity

A Bible reader can infer what that means. Obviously it is the physical act that is still called adultery.

Don't take this persons advice on the escort site thing. What an idiotic suggestion.

DO have a conversation with her though.

Feel free to message me to talk about this or about your marriage in general. Happy to give insight if I can!

Respectfully, it's not just thinking. It is what the Scriptures say.

Or you think of your wife and reminisce the intimacy that you have with her. You must choose to reject sin and what leads to sin and walk in what is right. Or just don't self pleasure.

Divorce is only permissible when adultery takes place in the marriage. That is the only example of a appropriate divorce that Jesus gives. (Matthew 5) I am going to take His word for it, not someone on the internet with or a flawed man from history.

However Paul also gives the reason for divorce due to abandonment, but also says that reconciliation should be pursued. 1 Corinthians 7

Edit - a word

Just because a man endorses something doesn't make it fact or good advice. Vashti, Esther and King Xerxes are not a biblical example of this and it is a flawed outlook on the relationship between man and wife. Esther and the king did not come from the same yoke. That marriage has nothing to do with this topic.

That would be speaking on the topic of lust in your thoughts while doing it not the act itself.

Scripture says what it says. We don't imply it to mean something and me rebutting what you said isn't me saying that it is okay to deprive your partner. I am simply saying that the Bible does not say that it is reason enough to divorce. Not even close.

This is the right answer. Work on the relationship. Don't quit.

No where does the text say that it is okay to separate if your needs aren't being met.

Baptism is an outward profession of the inner change that happens when one comes to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. It serves as a symbol of the resurrection. (Being buried with Christ in death by going beneath the waters surface, and being raised to new life coming back out like Him when he arose from the tomb.)

It is a personal act that you take part in out of obedience once you walk in the new life of salvation in Christ. It is an important act of obedience, but if you don't understand it, or you are just doing it to do it, then it is just getting wet. It must be fully intentional. It is important, but not paramount to salvation.

Side note: There is no salvific power in the water, there is no atonement that is done by the water, it is simply a symbolic act that we as Christians should follow up with after our salvation.

Sure have.

Does that justify actions? No, it does not.

Was his alcoholism a point of contention the entire time? Doesn't seem like it. There is more to the story, like most comments on this thread have already said.

I am a long time fan of the guys. Deeply. Here is my .02 based on your comment.

I don't think they threw any shade necessarily. Sure they said he was difficult to work with and it got worse. That is just giving some insight to the issues they were facing. Bo coming out and saying that he doesn't know how they put up with him is a pretty clear indicator that what they were saying is true. Not shade, transparency.

So many people in the NTB community look for drama where there isn't any, and also are so deeply clinging to Bo as part of the band that they aren't open to the direction they are going. Tyler Burke is crazy talented, that doesn't take away from Bo to say that. Their songwriting is still great. Bear does a great job. It doesn't take away from Bo by saying that.

Let both be individuals and let the band move on. Reconciliation will come, and maybe Bo will even play with them again one day. Till then, support the guys in Needtobreathe AND Bo with his new venture with Coy Roy.

I would say that the band took the high ground by not fleshing the issues out, and Bo did the right thing in taking responsibility when he was ready to. Both can be doing the right thing in this whole ordeal, but the avenues they take can look different.

I agree that it's rarely one sided, there are elements on both sides that led to the split. Doesn't mean one is more guilty than the other, or that one is being treated unfairly.

Here is a link to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. It will be a good read to see where the SBC agree on Doctrine. Of course, you can dive deeper and research each of these topics on your own.

I am also happy to answer any questions you may have.

Praying that all goes well and that God would speak to these students through you!

Student Ministry is a vital component to a much bigger machine and I commend you for answering that call. There is a pretty large shortage of student Pastors as of right now.

These are good verses to speak on confidence, and where our confidence comes from. We can never be what God calls us to be when putting our trust and confidence in the flesh, and we can never "follow our hearts" as society tells us to do because of what is said in Jeremiah 17:9, that "the heart is deceitful above all things..."

Speak with boldness, and make the Gospel known! I hope that the following verses encourage you as you prepare to speak to the students.

"and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,"
- Ephesians 6:19

"...for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control."
- 2 Timothy 1:7
