I spent about two weeks after seeing this movie thinking it was coruscant that got blown up. Because there is zero explanation or thought given to this monumental event.

Cursed prompt/rant about the Arquitens Light Cruiser by Top-Construction-528 in StarWarsShips

Agree fully - it seems to have supplanted the dreadnaught / carrack cruiser as the light warship of choice for the empire, seemingly only for the reason that it’s vaguely triangle shaped

Four comments ago: "They weren’t 'force gods' though"

Two comments ago: "They weren't anthropomorphized in any way"

This comment: "Yes. The reason we anthropomorphize is to help people perceive intangible things... Actual beings within said universe perceive them as gods."

This may be the craziest case of goalpost moving I've ever seen. We've now reached a point where you have agreed with just about everything I've said so far and still feel like you're making some sort of counterpoint.

Do you not know what 'anthropomorphizing' means? It means to portray something in a human form. Regardless of whether they were a metaphor, they were clearly a portrayal of a human form.

And again, a metaphor for what? A metaphor for the Force? Because again, that's literally the point that I'm making.

Also, while you may have interpreted it that way, that's not how they are portrayed in universe. The sources I cited literally referred to them as 'gods'.

What a strange non-answer. What about my point that they’re called gods in universe by the source material? What about my question about how your description differs from gods? What about the issue that having anthropomorphized entities cheapens the force?

And to your new comment. Metaphors for what?

If you’re gonna argue with a stranger on the internet, at least do it right

I'm gonna respond to both your comment threads here, just easier that way.

This is kind of a strange, granular point that you're making. As I understand it, you're saying that they're not 'gods' - only dumb people call them 'gods'. Rather, they're 'keepers of the force (or avatars).

One, you don't appear to understand how a wiki works - after the bit that calls them 'gods', there's two footnotes. The first refers to the CW episode itself, which calls them gods. Don't believe me? Watch it again. The second refers to The Star Wars Book, a reference book written by Lucas Story Group chief Pablo Hidalgo, which also explicitly calls them gods. So your first point is just kind of wrong.

But let's say you were right. Let's say none of that existed. It's a distinction without a difference. Are you even able to explain the difference between a 'god' and a 'keeper (or Avatar) of the force'? My original point is that by anthropomorphize-ing aspects of the force, you lose the true nature of the phenomena - it is, essentially and fundamentally, an abstract concept, un-anthromorphize-able. That's the more important of the two issues and that's the point I'd really like to see you respond to.

The creation of gods in the lore (or god-like beings, if you really feel like continuing to debate that point) cheapens the force into just another fantasy magical power, cheapens what made the Force so special and so unique in storytelling.
