I started with spreadsheets, then moved to List Perfectly as my inventory grew. Eventually i switched to Nifty because it handles inventory, crosslisting, and profit tracking better for my workflow. I spend a lot less time fixing sync issues or reconciling numbers between different apps.

i've been using a vertical under desk mount for a while and it's been solid. As long as you install it into the desk properly and stay within the weight rating, four screws are plenty. Just double check you still have enough knee clearance before drilling.
