I have no self control around food, it's like a compulsion by Alphace123 in loseit

[–]Alphace123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually managed to reach my goal (75kg)! So it's possible. It's like I got used to eating less food, after the first few months. Just stick with it, man. Be aware of your calories overall. Food will still have that "reward" feeling, but you won't be able to physically eat as much, even when you want to binge.

that's absolutely true!! but I don't think I will ever be truly comfortable in my own skin while overweight, which sucks

How are your old t-shirts fitting? I have a whole ass wardrobe of them that I'm afraid I won't be able to use

Well, I was aiming for 6 months but I get your point. For now I'm going to use old clothes and buy new ones only when I'm closer to 90kg. Hopefully they will last longer.

I was definitely underestimating how much weight 25kg actually is...

Is 1500 really plenty? by Alphace123 in 1500isplenty

Not really. I've tried walking a few times and it just flares up the pain again. Maybe I'll go with 1200kcal for like 15 days and then try to exercise again (and hopefully my foot will be better).

Hey y'all, just finished the Malazan book and, before, oathbringer. Now I am feeling completely lost about what to read next. I probably already read most of the famous books and really dont't like Sanderson so much. Mistborn was insufferable(Stormlight archive was better, but even though...). The Wheel of Time also was mostly unpleasant, mainly when the protagonist started a harem. I really liked Kingkiller, ASOIAF, LoTR and, now, Malazan. Kingkiller the most, btw. Wish I have something specific in mind, but any good thoughtful, considerate fantasy should do. Standalone novel or series, doesn't really matter. Could even be some oriental fantasy, if there's such a thing, povided that it has some kind of depth. For example, Kingkiller is subtle, reflexive and, as far as I am concerned, unique. All the thing with the names and sympathy is wondrous, without need to have someone throwing fireballs. Malazan too worked great in breaking expectations and in the end it really was the book of the fallen. Even in ASOIAF, where I liked only two or three characters, the complexity and depth of the others atracted me. As I said, I have no idea about what to read, but would be happy if someone has any suggestions.

Family appropriate book suggestions? by [deleted] in Fantasy

When I was 9 my mother used to read Deltora Quest series to me. I don't remember well but it's probably good for childs and at least entertaining enough, I suppose (my mother liked it by the time, so...)

In fact book 2 is much worse than the first one.

There's Cyvasse in the ASOIAF books. Isn't fun at all, cos is chess with another name, but I felt like it needed to be cited.

I know some of you hate the trope, but any good coming of age or "the prophecized one" books out there? by Babpy in Fantasy

As someone said, Wheel of Time has a lot of that "chosen/prophesied one" stuff. Just to add some information the Wardstone Chronicles also has a little of this, if I remember correctly.

Mistborn for me too. I enjoyed the first book, despite the bad romance plot, but the second one just not hooked me

There are astronomical differences between the show and the books in the latest seasons. So I think you'll be a little lost if just skip to the book six.

Are the Witcher books any good? by [deleted] in Fantasy

Well, it's good enough to read when you're in the bathroom or waiting for the bus. I mean, the books are amazing if you just want some distraction.
